Larsson deserves 1.7-2 mil per. Give him 3/6. Secures him and his family for life and we have a quality 4C for rest of his prime.

He does not deserve more then 2.

Larsson is basically Sami Pahlsson without the gaudy FO%. Those types generally get underpaid throughout their careers.

He's certainly earned a bit of a raise over his current salary.

Sure seems to me like ~2ish AAV is right, up to 2.5 AAV.

This makes sense, I think he's a Faksa light type of player who currently makes $2,000,000 perhaps without as many points. However, if he wants to stay in Buffalo then get it done at around $2,250,000. Keeping in mind that he is what he is.

Faksa is also probably getting somewhat overpaid based on his draft position.

Why do we have to pay him $2m or more per season? Hes a useful player and has played well this year but he doesn't produce much offense so its not like he has much to negotiate on.

Overpaying depth veterans is how teams get into cap trouble quick. We don't.

how do you possibly see them as comparable? Multiple cups and trying to keep a cup winning core together is night and day from our situation.
Because paying Kruger ultimately meant Chicago losing Teravainen. And eventually Kruger as well, for a while.

Paying a player who should be making $2mill $3mill catches up on a Cup contending team.

Paying Kane and Toews their contracts ontop of Hossa, Seabrook's albatross, panarin/saad depending on the year, and Crawford (an overrated goalie behind a good team) did the hawks in. Trying to keep a guy who at the time was a legit best in the league shut down 4c was a consequence of the aforementioned. Sadly for us we don't have the luxury to make those mkistakes because we lack the personnel and cup winning resumes to demand larger contracts. Apples and Oranges. though similar players for sure...
