Unfortunately, it’s all in the terms of the contract. He obviously doesn’t have anymore guaranteed money left on his contract.

ideally, players should get a portion of their contract for the year if they get cut after the start of free agency. But the PA didn’t push for any real change in fee agent rights.
So up to each player and their agent to build that kind of guarantee into their own contract.

They didn't have to cut him if they didn't give Andrus Peat such a stupid contract. Don't know why they needed to keep him around, it surprised a lot of people. But Brees wasn't happy with the pressure he saw up the middle last season and Warford pays the price I guess. The Saints haven't made a ton of moves this off-season, but the ones they have seems to be a direct reaction to the Vikings game.
