LA is short on organizational depth a defense due to numerous injuries and callups. This helps out on the farm along with the recent loan acquistion of Thomas Hickey (NYI via Bridgeport). Ontario is pretty good this season and has a chance for a playoff run so this helps the cause.

Nashville just acquired Alex Biega from TOR. Probably wanted to clear out a D, so moved Allard
Allard is still youngish and was kind of trapped in NSH, so LAK willing to give him a chance

Unsexy part of being a GM is making sure your AHL team has enough bodies. Doughty/Roy/Walker/Anderson currently on IR for the Kings, so they had to call up a few AHL guys and recently added Troy Stecher. Kings just needed a D for Ontario.

Nashville waived Phil Myers over the weekend and assigned him to the AHL. So they free up a spot by sending out Allard.

The Kings are decimated on the blueline with injuries, so they are acquiring a lot of stopgaps and assistance for 7th D or mostly the Ontario Reign who lost like literally every defenceman to the big club this year.

This is not a boring trade.
The Kings were forced to move the youngsters up from which left the AHL team empty.
This is purely to fill out the AHL roster to continue hockey operations.

I personally am excited about this trade

Also forgot that LA signed undrafted free agent winger Taylor Ward over the weekend. Moving Burke theoretically opens up a forward spot for him in Ontario.
