Prime Laine vs Prime Svechnikov, who do you take?
Until we see Svechnikov play a game, let alone hit his prime it’s Laine all day every day
Hard not to take laine
With all due respect, Svechnikov is not the same calibre of talent as Laine.
Maybe not exact the same calibre, but notch below at worst. Svechnikov's skating, passing , vision, puck skills are equal or even above Patrick's. Yeah, Laine has incredible shooting arsenal, but Svechnikov's is no slouch either. Anyways I'd take Laine, proven 40+ goalscorer.
Laine has more more goals than anyone not named Ovechkin last season, I don’t think anyone in there right mind would pick Svechnikov over Laine knowing that context alone.
The regular season can't start soon enough.....
Odd poll. Revisit this a year or two from now, after we’ve seen Svechnikov play some actual NHL games, because right now the only answer can be Laine.
Pretty silly comparison. Give Svech a year or two before passing judgement either way.
Svechnikov is a tier of player below Laine.
Hmm the guy with 44 goals in NHL last season or the guy with 40 in the OHL... Tough decision.
Have to pick Laine, but its not a guarantee. I like Svechs game.
Really like Svech, but you have to take the sure thing.
A little premature this poll is.
Weird poll. Neither are close to their prime and we have no idea what they will be in their primes.
Until then, Laine has some undeniable goalscoring ability that is hard to find. So until the actual time comes, it's Laine for me
Let's revisit in 2 years.
Laine until proven otherwise.
I think people are going to be surprised at the level of player Svechnikov turns out to be.
It makes sense to have a poll on who you would take going forward, but since we haven't seen either of their primes yet it's not something you can realistically vote on. Having said that, Svechnikov is gonna have to blow the roof off to get to the level Laine is already at so the safe pick here is Laine.
Just quoting the bolded.
Its mentioned a few times.
That is exciting when Laine hasnt hit his prime yet and he already achieved few ridiculous stats.
Thing is, we've seen 2 years of Laine in the NHL so we have an idea of what his prime could be. We have zero years of Svechnikov in the NHL and no idea what his prime might be.
Laine is the only answer (at the moment) here. Not surprised to see the usual suspects voting "anything but Laine".
Actually voted Svech, I think he has the potential to be a much more well rounded player.
How the hell does anyone know what Svechnikov's prime will be yet? You can roughly project but he's a prospect. Laine is already one of the best goal scorers on Earth and it is far too early to say that he won't get better given his young age.
Separate names with a comma.
