Slump aside, Laine's still younger and has proven more. While a true star should shine regardless, it's clear Laine isn't in a position to best maximize his talents right now. He doesn't have chemistry with Little and he's off PP1 now. Boeser's play hasn't been as consistently good as last year either, but with the Canucks not having the depth of the Jets, he still gets the majority of the offensive ice time with Pettersson on the top line and on the first PP unit. I'm betting he would be struggling as well if he was playing with players he didn't gel with. Both actually have similar strengths and weaknesses, but Laine's shot is just far beyond Boeser's, especially this year. You have to take him long term unless the cap difference is massive.

Laine has more talent and at absolute ceiling, Laine would destroy Boeser but Boeser is drastically more consistent, it seems like Boeser scores every second game. When it comes to drafting/team building I always try and swing for the fences with highest upside, so I'd go Laine, he could do amazing things with either Pettersson or Horvat.

Does Laine prefer to handle the puck?

Laine is both more proven and has a higher ceiling. That's where I'd lean given the relative similar skill sets/strengths

Not a fair poll... Boeser is already one of my favourite players to ever play in the NHL. He's an amazing person, great personality, very high level offensive talent. But Laine is already one of the greatest goal scorers of all time, at 20 years old. He had a 44 goal season at 19. He's already lining up with Ovechkin and other elite goal scoring hall of famers.

Tough timing for this poll but i would still stick with Laine.

It's easy to forget how intimidating Laine can be when he's in the game. Right now it's just not happening with his mobility. People say it's because he's extremely streaky, i think it's not even that right now, more so just not being good enough.

Which probably contradicts my pick, but you can look at this from two point of views. 1) 20 year old player will be like this for the rest of his career 2) this season lights a fire under his ass and he actually puts in the work needed to get better

Knowing how these things usually work, im banking on a career year for Laine in 19-20 and at that point it would be an easy choice.

3- Dude quits hockey and starts a career in video games.

Every Jets fans this week: "But Laine didnt bring his console on the trip, he didnt play Fortnite from Feb 6 to Feb 11, it's not an issue"

Reality: Apex came out on february 5th and is arguably a more fun battle royale than fortnite, the f*** you think he was doing?

Since I saw what Boeser is doing for the community,

Boeser and it's not even close. What a great young kid, class act guy that I would kill to have on the Habs
