Lack of loser points is killing us

Today's NHL: play for a win (exciting hockey)...and miss playoffs.

It's true. We have as many wins as the 5th place team in the conference, and MORE wins than the LEADER of the other conference, but lack of loser points means we are out of a playoff spot.

Boston Bruins have 3 more wins than us but 15 more points than us! How is that even possible???

Moral of the story? In 3rd period, play for tie. Defense, trap, clutch/grab, boring hockey. Like the Bruins do.

Go for a win? Play exciting, risky hockey? Open it up? Better hope it works out, because if not, bye-bye playoffs.

Great league, isn't it?

The bruins just suck in OT/SO, that's it. We have 23 wins in regulation, the Bruins have 32. We are 10-3 in OT, the Bruins are 4-12. It's not like they play considerably more OT than we do.

I get that you are upset with the loser point, but you won't win a lot of arguments with this kind of reasoning.

I was always pretty meh about the loser point, but I’m starting to really be over it. Nothing to do with us to be honest.

It’s watching teams find a way to make three on three defensive and boring. It seemed inconceivable. Leaving the zone to make sure you keep possession......

They should make that a penalty or a defensive zone draw, in OT anyways.

It's not the loser points.. it's lack of solid streaks. Im just looking at my notes, there's only been 3 games all year where the Canes came in to the game with a last 10 record that starts with 7 or better. That's actually pretty crazy. Some perspective.. the Canucks have 18.

What this tells you is that every mini-streak gets mostly offset by the games they lose. That's nothing unusual and most good teams do that during a long grind of the season but then there's some points in the season when you get on a run. Canes had that one long road trip and that's it. It's been a season of maintaining position but not really doing anything to create separation when they needed it. And of course now when they desperately need to, it's the toughest part of the season without your #1-2 dman.

Tough to blame loser points when your season-best L10 is 7-2-1. Columbus just won like 15/20 games recently with half of their team on IR. No excuses.

The proper word is not lacking. It's just already trademarked.

Nah.

Warlock is Černokněžník (literally Black Priest).

Witcher (known from books, games and current Netflix adaptation) is translation used for Polish word Wiedzmin, while Witch is Czarownica (Čarodějka in Czech). Male counterpart is Czarodiej (Čaroděj in Czech) which would be translated as Sorcerer, Wizard or Mage.

Czech translation of Witcher is usually Zaklínač from the word zaklít (verb) or zakletí (noun), which would be translated as curse.

English is unwieldy for description of folklore of other cultures.
