No real expectations from today's match after Copa fixture from midweek.
Yeah, me to no expectations but a 5-0 win
Well that is the result they really should be expecting, and despite the performance in the Copa I still think it's possible. We'll see.
Expected Real to miss/rest some regulars here. Varane starting surprises me the most. His knee looked horrible.
Two EL Classico's in one week.!! Ooooooo
Rakitic with a beautiful chip over the goalie.
Arthur is so good.
Not a good idea to get Messi fired up Ramos...
Jesus christ Asensio, ridiculous dive
Only Barca players dive if your a Madrid fans.
Another underwhelming classico glad Barca racks up the wins here so much fun.
Second shutout in three days at the Bernabeu, nice. Excellent defensive game today, even though Madrid clearly lacks quality. Vidal had a fantastic game after coming on, he was everywhere.
Lenglet was very good.
I'll have to watch the match tonight, but happy with the result at least. Domestic double is a must at this point.
Pique was absolutely immense, the whole backline was impressive. Sergi had a complete performance at RB as well, including the pass to Rakitic for the goal.
VAR didn’t do its job today, Ramos should’ve been off the pitch.
I'll start off with the ref. Classic Madridista reffing right there, but it was Undiano so it shouldn't be a suprise. Once again Ramos should have been sent, more than once. The guy has been sent off something like 25 times since joining Madrid and in reality it should be more like 35 times at least. I've said it before, I wish we had an enforcer. Hopefully someday somebody seriously cleans his clock. Of course it didn't end there. That little bitch Reguilon had three fouls in a very short period of time and then took a massive dive in the box and nothing. Add to that whatever the hell happened at the end there, but it was funny how his sideshow just wasted the little time left. Then you had another big dive Asensio which was ignored. Then there was the handball called on Suarez after the ball was played onto his upper arm and yet Carvajal's worse handball in the box, after he pushed Suarez no less, was ignored.
On the team, very happy with the performance. We should have put them to the sword, but the work rate across the team was excellent. We didn't score the goals from midweek, but definitely felt like they were in control of this one as compared to that match. Thrilled with the defense and Gerry was a monster. All over the place. It should be noted this is the only player in the team and I believe in the entire league who had played every minute of this season. And post match you had Ramos bemoaning their lack of rest between two home fixtures. Anyway, Pique was definitely Man of the Match for me. I also thought it was noteworthy that Sergi played really well at RB and Vinicius was much quieter in this one. Generally I'd expect Semedo to do better defensively, but it was Sergi which I'm happy to see considering the flack he gets on one forum I sometimes visit. Have to give Rakitic credit for that goal too. Excellent finish. Messiesque. It was great watching Varane sluff it back when he probably could have saved it off the line. Of course I also have to mention Valverde. Not sure WTF he was thinking taking Dembele off. Madrid pushing forward and leaving more space and you take a player with that skill and pace on put on Coutinho?
League is definitely not over yet. I like where we're sitting, but still a lot to play for. Fixture list in the league looks pretty favorable, but still have Atleti and the derby match along with away matches against Alaves and Betis.
They can't. They did in a sense with Isco only being a sub and Marcelo not playing, but that's also down to selection/form as neither are in Solari's good graces. The Bernabeu was chanting Isco's name while he was warming up (and on a side note Bale was whistled and rightly so). Hopefully Ajax can get the job done.
I don't think it was that underwhelming. We've certainly seen better, but again I appreciated the performance. They worked hard.
Spot on. As for VAR, it's really easy to explain. It was Mardid, it was Ramos and it was Lahoz in the VAR booth.
He was. Looked very calm and assured out there. I could see him limiting Umtiti's minutes during the run in.
Good team performance though Suarez sucked
Can't wait. 90% possession and 1-0 wins all day long here we come!
Samper's contract cancelled at Barça and he will join Iniesta and Villa at Vissel Kobe in Japan.
Madrid fans a disgrace - Bale agent
The only disgrace is Bale and whoever thought he was worth half of that 100 mill transfer. Would love to go back and read some of the comments on here.
Annoyed he didn't get more of a chance with Barça over the years, but happy for Samper. Really hope it works out for him.
You really don't like Bale, lol
He's definitely not in his prime anymore, and I'm sure injuries had a lot of say in that, but he definitely had some pretty big contributions to Madrid in his time there.
I would still take him at Liverpool.
I did not mind him when he was the plucky underdog at Tottenham he transformed into everything I despise in the world of soccer. Overrated, overpaid (b/c of the EPL) and to boot part of the evil empire. I actually did like his style and was a fan until he got overhyped. Very similar to that afterthought Ronaldo.
Nothing more than good player that's it
Bale's agent on Real Madrid supporters: "Those fans should be kissing his feet."
@Scandale du Jour : "That's what I want!"
