Leafs ranked 7th best on this list. The outside perception seems to think Dubas has done a solid job with this team. There is a big disconnect from the few Dubas critics, and what the other groups think. Even a majority of the fanbase likes what he has done. The public opinion ranks Dubas in the top 10 in terms of drafting and vision. Top 5 in FA, and 11th in trading. Dubas expectedly ranks low in cap management, but the fanbase ranks Dubas top 10 in every category except trading.

Worst GM in the league #2

Dubas was recently ranked as the 2nd worst gm on an hf poll.

The outside perception seems to be that most dislike the job dubs has done so far and the results, or lack thereof, back that up.

Was this right under the HFb poll that also cast the Leafs as the second most hated club on the site?

Kidding, but polls being what they are...

I feel it’s the fans that pessimistically rate dubas while the executives, certain journalists, analytics and prospect fans rate him highly. Sentiment from youtube comments and hfboards towards dubas is rather toxic.

Our last 1st round draft pick( that was acquired) by Dubas looks to ge raising his stock. Not bad for a 15th overall. His drafting is great. He wasn’t around for the prized early picks but got us Sandin,Robertson and Amirov.
Trades have been decent other than the angry trading of Kadri. Kadri would be gone now regardless because of the purging of medium cost contracts. We deserved more than Kerfoot,Barrie and a lost pick.
Depth is better still now

It's irrelevant how fans or media perceive him. If his teams continue to trend backwards he'll find himself out of a job sooner rather than later.

This is just Mirtle going to bat for his BF.
so to be clear, you think a different writer continuing his annual fan survey about the front offices around the league is Mirtle going to bat for Dubas? Lol

Results haven't been there but the management has made pretty good decisions in trades, signings, drafting, developing, and on/off ice personnel.

No GM has a perfect record, but Dubas is performing above the average imo.

HFboards is impatient when it comes to these things.

75% of HF voted Marner a 4th liner. If intelligence is of any importance to you, don't put stock in HF polls. Most are doing well to tie their own shoes in the morning.

Agreed, that means it's totally irrelevant what you think too.

And the article wasn't written by Mirtle. So much irrelevance in the post.

Imo Mirtles observation isn't terribly hard to explain. The Leafs have always been a lightening rod for other fanbases, especially Canadian ones. The fact that Dubas has become one of the faces of newer approaches to hockey management/analysis has further drawn negativity from certain elements of hockey Fandom as well.

Ultimately now its all up to Dubas ro prove the doubters wrong. Has his coach, his scouts and his roster in place

Gotta love the masochistic leafs fan that glorifies HF polls.

I feel so bad for any fan that actually romanticizes any element of the burke era and actively resents the shanahan/dubas era.

I think ranking upgrade has a lot to do with having a strong offseason on paper. The run of transactions between the Kapanen trade (to kick off the offseason) to the Hutchinson signing (most recent move) has been largely positive.

Leafs fans always rank the team near the top during the off-season. Let’s see how they rank him after 20,40,60,82 games.

Nw two off-season in a row he’s made changes. At least this year he realized the team was too easy to play against and the goaltending was an issue. However, this year there were a lot of things out of anyone’s control that were working against Dubas which made it virtually impossible to do everything he wanted to do.
