Wow, so, our deepest position coming into the season is RW, and now it has Phil Kessel and ....? Not looking good at all for us going forward. We're basically an infirmary more than we are a hockey team

Damn were getting hit pretty hard this year. Luckily this is the most NHL ready bodies we've had in the AHL for years but still.

You have to wonder about playing as hard at practice as a game philosophy.

Orr should be dropping the gloves and pounding Lupul senseless, Kulemin should be drilling Phaneuf into the boards, Kadri should be diving all over the ice, ...

I understand the thought process, but think that is like using real bullets and trying to kill each other during war games so that everyone gets up to speed.
I'm not referring to fights lol. that's absurd...

but players need to practice their shot blocking skills, they check and at times as we've seen and heard players get into fights at practice. They go all out i'm sure at times... they need to compete and try. Disagree if you wish, that's your opinion but I like seeing RC create an atmosphere based on effort, work ethic and determination... it will bode will with a young team down the line.

I'm ecstatic that he's not traded. I'm bummed that he's injured. Guys are dropping like flies so quickly into the season. He's such a workhorse and he's so durable, it'll be strange not seeing him in the line-up.

You don't practice blocking shots in practice, that's like a quarterback getting sacked in practice. Asinine.

How about have Rielly, Gardiner, Phaneuf, Franson, ... stand with the puck against the boards and have the forwards come in and drill them into the boards?

That happens all the time in games, and should be practiced.

Sounds like he was standing in front of the net, then captain dumbdumb decided to step into a clapper.

Come on fight vs Blocking shots....far different.

You play like you practice.....so blocking shots in practices is normal.

And that, unfortunately, explains the Abbott call-up. Better than him being traded I guess, but that is a small consolation prize.

This one is going to hurt, especially with Clarkson still out. Kulemin would be a vital piece of any team, but even more so with the system Carlyle employs. No one player can take all his minutes and play all his roles, it is going to have to be by committee. Fortunately, the addition of Bolland should help in this regard, with McClement no doubt picking up some of the slack as well.

Two of our Top 9 wingers and three total are out due to injury or suspension. Not a good start on that front.

There was no speculation coming from the media but I read some comments on here and my sister mentioned that on Twitter a lot of fans were speculating that he may have been traded.

So you run people into the boards during practice too? Only an idiot would encourage blocking shots in practice, it's a very dangerous thing to do! Again, so a football team should practice sacking the QB?

Sucks to lose kule, but i think i wouldve been a bit more comfortable if we brought up leivo instead of abbott.

With Clarkson, Fraser, Mclaren and now kule gone already, I'm a bit worried about our size/toughness in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully the team is able to step up.

They do of course, they stop before they hit him.

Body checking, blocking shots is all normal stuff.
