Anyways back to the subject of the thread, no talent over the hill goon specifically targets one of the young stars of the league. Thats a problem. These borderline players need to be stopped to prevent further attacks on the young gems of the league. Like Matthews or the Leafs or not, stuff like this must be condemned and should be eliminated

Yeah, generally a move like that from Kronwall is bad for the game. He's an outgoing dinosaur with no entertainment value who puts other players in physical harm. As a Leaf fan, it was pretty scary to see that hit. But, if he's bringing that kind of element into the game, maybe there's still some room in the game for the Leafs to respond with something unpleasant.

Yeah god forbid in a male contact sport that 2 guys go shoulder to shoulder when battling for a puck. Horrible for the game, they should have pirouetted from the net front to the corner to add more entertainment to the game. That outgoing dinosaur is 6 feet, 190 and didnt do much to toss injury prone Matthews into the boards. Matthews needs to learn to protect himself. Kronwall is probably the most entertaining open ice hitter of the last decade unless its your favourite teams player getting hit, this wasnt a big open ice hit but its still obvious youre butt hurt and cant see things logically. A 2 min interference is perfectly fine in this case and I'm not even sure if Matthews didnt touch the puck. If he did its completely fine

In any case, I'm not arguing for Kronwall to be suspended. If he's bringing certain elements to a game against some of our better players, I would hope my Leafs would have the ability to respond in kind and make sure either or his teammate Dylan Larkin aren't leaving town with a bruise or two. You know, the way you want the game to be played. Bring back some Clark/Probert goodness.

This was nothing like those hits... Kronwall was a notorious advantage taker and feet leaver, this is not a dirty play. Matthews needs to learn that people play the body in the NHL and not just the puck.

If you watch the replay closely you will see Matthews is on his left foot when contact made. This is a tactic I was coached years ago. Count strides left right left right, one two one two. Hit when they are not leaning into you. Matte was caught at the right time by an experienced defense man. Reaching did not help.
