Russell’s willingness to step in front of screaming slappers is a big part of the reason the 27-year-old has been nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy by Calgary’s chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA).

I think he should easily pass 300... just a bananas stat when you consider his size. Great vision, IQ and a huge pair of yarbles are needed to be a premier shot-blocker.
