Someone want to please explain this to me? The knights list him as Sergei and that's what everyone has been calling him here in London, but I've also seen him referred to as Siarhei a couple of times - on hockeysfuture for one I believe.

What gives?

I believe his birth name from his native country of Belarus is Siarhei Kastsitsyn. That names english translation I believe is Sergei Kostitsyn.

Belarussians seem to drop G's for H's.

They also seem to drop V's for U's (Kolosau).

Aren't both ways pronounced similar, Sir-jay or Sir-gee or Sir- gay,

I have heard Russian players use both of the last two quite often.

Siarhei sounds gaëlic, wonder if he can handle a few pints?
Any which way you see it, we'll probably end up calling him Serge in Montréal.

LOL, so true...

I have an uncle who is fluent in Gaelic, which to me is one of the greatest things ever.
