The way Stralman is sounding from the Swedish folks he's going to be an absolutely fantastic defender. He looks like he could turn into the stay at home type the Leafs have been after for a very long time.

I havn't seen him, nor have I seen much of Kolstov, so obviously I obstain from voting.

Koltsov is apparently one of the top defenders in the RSL right now, and hopefully for Vancouver fans' sake he comes over soon.

Don't know much else about him. :dunno:

I just haven't seen enough of either of these two guys to make an unbiased conjecture.

In order to judge these two one would have had to watch both play in several games and read a large quantity of independant scouting reports. I want to say Stralman because I am a Leaf fan but I really have no basis for that. Anybody who meets the above criteria please shed some light on these two euros.

Koltsov is one of the best d-men not in the NHL....but he's also 3 years older than Stralman.

All I know is that Stralman is better now than Koltsov was 3 years ago.

So is Stralman. He's leading SEL in total ice time.

Right now I will say draw/small edge Koltsov. In future must be Stralman.

where did you hear that he is a stay at home d-man. he is at least as good in the offensive zone as he is in the defensive zone. he carry's the puck up the ice with excellent speed and stickhandling. he shows extremly good passing skills and has a powerfull and accurate slapshot. my projection for him will be a #2-3 two way d-man. who could rack up around 40 points pr. season. and this is from seeing him at least 20-30 times. how much have you seen of him???

if he can get a andrei markov type player that would be great, but i'm holding out for a next nik lidstrom ;)

I see him as another Kaberle personally.

I've only heard things about him, and all I've been told is that he's more of a defensive type than an offensive type. I'd inquired as to his potential, and asked if Kaberle was a similar type player, and everyone told me that Stralman is more defensive, and worse offensively.

Strange. He might not be the next coming of Paul Coffey, but I think he's doing alright offensivly. Strålman is alot more like Kaberle than Gill, imo. He is not a "stay at home" defender by any means.

I think Phil Oreskovic will do a better job in the big stay at home type defender.

He can sure step into a shot...one time em.. from the goals of his that Ive seen.....perhaps ala Phaneuf...not sure how good his passing is or if he'll be a great assist type but indications are that hes not bad ..so that combined with his solid defensive play..and you have yourself a top2-3 Dman IMHO.

In my opinion, he is next Lidstrom...

HA! :biglaugh: says the habs fan, he is way, way, way, way, way better then Morkov, and since i believe a WJC swedish coach has a better opinion than you, then i will say i would go with the swedish coach, who described him as the next Lidstrom....

A lot of players were the next coming off certain player and they ended up being a Bust.

It's not easy to predict who he's going to be like this early.

Most of the people havn't even seen him. The only time I watched him was the WJC and I thought he was fantastic and in that small sample of him and reading scouting reports I knew he was looking like a good prospect now Lidstrom comparisons are coming up.

He will be Anton Stralman. :)

I'll dance in the street if he's anything like Kaberle (Stralman that is).

I don't know much about Koltsov but he looks like a fine player aswell. Both excelling in each league.

yeah dont mind leafsrgods, he got kicked off mapleleafs.chat because he was acting like he was 11 years old....pretty sad when all of the posters on mapleleafs.chat are 11 years old also.

anyways im really hoping that another kostistyn thread get started up so us leafs fans wont look so bad because of leafsrgods

but id be more than happy if stralman turned out to be a markov, so many prospects have come over and done nothing...setting the bar as the next lidstrom doesnt really help out
