I don't think Lind is really a centre. He'd do well to stick for awhile in the NHL as a winger, at most a winger who can fill in at centre. Doesn't skate well enough plus I think he'd get dominated near the net when trying to defend.

Playing with Baertschi and Anas plus PP1 duty in a watered-down AHL he should be a point per game guy. Three of his four goals/points have come on the PP.

Sutter is the Nucks current 3rd line centre.
He has zero assists in 18 games.
There may be an opening at Centre for Lind soon.

Good offensively. Some growing pains switching to center defensively. Needs work on his faceoffs.
There are some good post-game reviews on Lind in the Utica threads.
I noticed Lind often takes face offs left handed. He seems to win those pretty often. He’s a nasty player, and wouldn’t be fun to play against like so many of the guys we have on the big club.

This is actually an encouraging sign....maybe it means the Canucks are running up the white flag on the rest of the schedule and he might actually get into some games.

Same for guys like Rathbone, DiPietro, Michaelis and maybe even Gadjovich.....an opportunity to figure where they're at with really nothing on the line.

You can hope, but historically they have never done this. Even in years where they were terrible, they would only burn off a contract year for "fan entertainment."

There's no fans in the building.....the rest of league could care less what happens in VanCity.....they're hopelessly out of the playoff race. If there was ever a season to fold the tents and play the kids, it would be this one. This is actually one sorry season where nobody would even blame the Canucks if they 'tanked' in the last 19 games.

But sadly, you're probably right. Even after the Canucks go through their extended COVID schedule break, they'll trot a veteran lineup out there in garbage time and do nothing more than jeopardize their draft position.

It’s more nuanced than that. The Canucks have used the opportunity to look at Boeser and Hughes but also some “young” players in the past. In reality there wasn’t much on the farm that they haven’t seen or should see so opportunities were given to new acquisitions whether it was Goldobin or Motte and Leipzig types if there isn’t a UFA they want to attract like Molino and Teves.

I agree this is the ONE season to tank, but than I said that 6 tweets ago, and here we are.

I was one of very few people that absolutely hated the fact that we burned off a contract year for Boeser, Gaudette and Hughes in seasons that we were completely eliminated from the playoffs, just to appease the fans and "have something to look forward to." Burning a contract for 5 or 9 games is a bad cap move. You need to get a full season like Petterson did.

You only burn seasons for a playoff bound team, because it's like getting an extra player for the playoffs. Colorado did that with Makar.

The Canucks also trotted out Markstrom the last couple seasons when they were mathematically eliminated, when they should have played Demko.

Vancouver can take Lind, Gadjovich, and Rathbone. They can also put Michaeli, Juolevi, and Rafferty in the lineup. That's how they'd find out hat these kids know and what they can do. That would give them a much better idea of what they have or don't have for next season. However, the Comets would have to be compensated manpower wise. You can't add thatb many people to the vancouver roster and or taxi without removing some bodies. Graovac and Sautner would go back to Manitoba by past agreement. They would have a total of 12 forwards and 6 D-men on their entire roster. They have averaged at least 1-2 guys injured on most game days. Might as well just fold the tent with this philosophy.

Oh, but they have 3 goalies. Note, the adjective "good" wasn't used, just 3. We have not seen 2 of the 3 in a game. Joel Hofer was sent down from the Taxi by St. Louis to replace Jon Gillies who they brought up to replace him. They haven't played a game since he was through his short COVID protocol. Bet he's glad he got sent here.

I think its more of he's healthy and doesn't have covid so he can get through his 7 day quarantine and be available to play if the team isnt healthy when the Canucks resume their season.

The dynamic you are missing is there was a small chance of losing these players. Also these players were good enough to play in NHL all season. The mistake might have been that Boeser and Hughes did not play whole year in Nhl, both did not have great university years. Gaudette last deal shows it does not matter if you lose a marginal players year. Burning a year is the right thing to do for obvious star players and it does not matter for marginal players. Hope Lind gets a chance. Gaudette is not a player on a good team, we have a hole in bottom 6 still.

Lind plays heavier and nastier than Gaud. He might be more effective in a bottom six role than Gaud. If the team plays more games this year we should see Lind a lot.
