Okay. We just have a fundamental disagrement on how to best develop prospects. That is fine.

Then send then away from Utica, where they get to play.

Palmu did what is best for his developement. Send more of the players to europe if Utica is not the place to get adequate minutes. Its insanity that a league with a relegation system is better at developing raw prospects then a closed league like tha AHL.
You mean the ECHL?
Honestly, that’s the best place for Gadjovich now

I’m not so sure those European league would be any better at developing those prospects. Juolevi went there, we heard all about the “progress” he made and then he came back as a PP specialist you had to shelter on the third pair. Dahlen looked nowhere near ready for NA pro hockey, neither did Palmu.

Or maybe these prospects just weren’t very good

Or europe.

Just dont sit them. Its a waste of precious developement time.

Better to play there against men then sit in Utica.

Terrible seasons for both Lind and Gadjovich. We needed at least one of them to challenge for a roster spot next season, at this rate neither of them look anywhere close to ready.

They went expected to make the nhl. I am forecasting 4 years after they got drafted.

They need to play hockey.

Send them away from Utica if thats not the place to play & develop them.

This last idea gets less attention than it deserves.

If those players weren't good enough to play in Utica, they should have been assigned to Kalamazoo until they were good enough to develop in the AHL.

Lind needs to take a step forward next season. It's almost impossible to consider a scenario where he gets worse, but I'd really like to see like 40+points at a minimum if he's gonna hold my attention.

I was never that high on Lind. I remmeber once I said, I wouldn't be surprised if Lind doesn't make in the nhl. Users called me negative and I never watched him play. Still remember when people thought he was as good as Glass.

If he doesn't hit at least 40 points, him becoming a top 6 player is pretty much non-existent and becoming top 9 player is extremely low.

With the amount of wingers the Canucks picked this year he's going to get passed real quick if he doesn't bounce back this season. (Gadjovich too)

Agreed. Hopefully I'm proven wrong, but I remember wanting to draft d-men w/ both the 33rd pick & 55th pick; I'll be very disappointed if a player picked in that range develops into a top-pairing d-man. I did however like the subsequent picks of Michael Dipietro & Jack Rathbone.

Pretty much this and frankly I see a 5% chance that either guy even plays an NHL game in their careers.

Jasek has a better shot at an NHL game and I'm not even sure if he ever makes it either.

Their development was really stunted last year, having some decent centers in Utica was probably the biggest problem.

Prospects also need to play to get better, plain and simple.

If cull didn't think they were good enough to play bigger roles in Utica then the Canucks should have sent them elsewhere to at least see how they would respond.

Utica for awhile now (ever since Cull took over) hasn't been kind to our prospects. I do think at some point the Canucks need to put more pressure on the staff down there to better integrate our young talent.

They invested valuable picks in the likes of Lind. He should be given every chance to prove he's worth it.

I agree it's poor asset management.

It reminds me of the case of Brett Sterling, made by Dobber hockey for fantasy hockey purposes.

He lamented on how the thrashers put him in a poor role to succeed or even evaluate what they had in the NHL by giving him limited MPG and bottom 6 players to play with.

Hopefully Utica has some decent centers this year and the Canucks can properly evaluate what they have in Lind and other wingers.

A big year for Lind coming up.....needs to hit the 20 goal plateau and 50 points in the AHL, to be considered a legit prospect imo. Won't be easy because not looking the Comets will be all that strong in the coming season.

But that's the hard reality of the NHL draft. A lot of players only have a couple of seasons in minor-pro, before they start getting passed by other prospects.

It’s difficult to understate how poor Lind looked in the first half of the season. Like, he was just embarrassingly bad - a turnover machine who couldn’t skate at that level and was completely unplayable.

Cull was doing this player a huge favour just by playing him at all and the notion that we were screwing over Lind by not giving him top-6 minutes is frankly absurd and anyone stating this just doesn’t have a clue.

He did improve in the 2nd half with 15 points in his last 33 games and I have no doubts that he’ll score 40 or 50 points at the AHL level next year or the year after. But that doesn’t mean he’s a legit pro prospect or people should start getting excited if he scores 45 points next year. His skating simply isn’t good enough to project him as an NHL regular in any role.

Then ECHL or Europe. If they don’t play they won’t get better; anyone stating otherwise doesn’t have a clue.

They will play him, as he improved alot in the 2nd half. As MS said his skating needs to improve, but I'd expect him to need at least 1.5-2 more seasons in the AHL before getting a sniff at the NHL level. Let's say 2020/21 he'll be a potential callup (if all goes well).

This guy just doesn’t have what it takes.

Not sure how he posted such great stats in his draft year. Every game of his I’ve seen he’s been behind the play.

Happens all the time.

As was pointed out at the time by us nay sayers, virtually every player drafted within proximity to him was doing a similar thing D+1. Maybe two of them would become nhl players.

For me Gadjovich at least was beginning to play the role I had imaged for him in the final games of the season grinding the boards and going to the net. Lind was a complete no show from game one through the end of the season. I'm not saying Gadjovich looked like a future NHL player or anything close to that, but I can at least see him becoming a decent AHL pro down the line. Lind, not so much.
