I'm not questioning the validty of 1st season = rookie regardless of age. It's just within my own opinion that if a 18 19 year old is putting up good numbers vs a 24 year old I can see why they'd nod to the younger player.

I mean, there is a reason they call the age restriction the "Makarov Rule", they don't want that crap to happen again. While it's not unheard of for a player around 23-24 to win it, it is rare. Panarin is the only guy that's done it recently enough for it to be relevant, which becomes painfully obvious when we need to resort to listing Belfour, who has been retired for nearly as many years as he was in the league.
That said, I think Kaprizov's got as good a case as anyone at the moment, and better than most. If he doesn't win it, I could be easily convinced that it was due to age bias.

It's so cool that he's just simply better than other guys. I didn't even know what it felt like to have a guy who is just better. I feel like we don't deserve it after so many years of having players who need to work twice as hard as other guys.
