I'm sold on him at this point.

It's shocking that every other franchise passed on him so many times.

We got him in the 5th round - we were a team that really could have used a player that was not going to bulls--- us about staying KHL, but we rolled the dice on him knowing we would have to wait.

Why didn't another team that had a throw-away pick and didn't need him immediately select him before us in round 5 or round 4 or even round 3?

Imagine if Chicago or Washington or Pittsburgh would have plucked him just before us in round 4 or 5.

It's shocking that - while yes it was a LONG wait - we actually got him.

The gamble paid off, though some might argue we had to wait way too long.

wasnt it reported that Fletcher gave Vegas the option of picking which prospect between Kaprizov, Tuch and JEE(maybe it was Kunin) to go with Haula?

Tuch's been good, but adding KK to that team would be a nightmare.

Honestly the kid (is 23 a kid?) was a top-10 pick, and we got him at pick 135 in that draft.

He must have really not been clear on what his motives were to all the NHL executives as to his intent because with his talent he had no business ever falling to 135 in the draft.

I think he was probably just underscouted. Russia got upset in the U-18s that year, so he only got 4 games (went PPG in it), and playing for a bad MHL/KHL in Siberia probably didn't too many eyes on him. Russia is underscouted as it is compared to western Europe, Siberia even more so.

407 career NHL goals for Gabby (815 pts). He was no scrub.

Not sure if Kaprizov will surpass those numbers when said anddone, but who knows...

You should be more concerned about Kaprizov's production when he's not playing with Zuccarello. Kaprizov didn't click very well with Fiala either, and that was a surprise. But maybe that's on Fiala, chemistry is a funny thing.
