if the lottery really is rigged, maybe the NHL will feel more inclined to give us Laf because they screwed us hard on this one

I'm personally shocked the NHLPA sold out a future player for some benefit for current members... /s

It was always a bargaining chip the NHLPA was paying lip service about caring about.

Just reporting whats already been said. Was a tweet in French from someone creditable saying they would be allowed but deleted it because it was finalized yet. If you think the NHLPA is going to allow a complete nonsensical rule change without negotiation they won't. This is a direct hit to a rule change that affect players rights to play which is a huge no no to any sort of sport collective bargaining.

Its a ploy and tool being used to negotiate for the extended CBA. NHLPA just got back Olympic participation for 22 and 26. They are knocking down the blocks one at a time. This issue will be one solved.

You're right, there will be a negotiation and there was a ploy. But the ploy was that the NHLPA cared about Kaprizov and Sorikins ability to play this summer. They had to release that they cared about it, so that it could be used as a chip in their negotiation with the NHL.

Poor Kaprizov...I guess he'll sign another season in the KHL now.

I believe it is because he doesn’t want to sit around until January or whenever it is that 20-21 starts so he may as well re-sign with the KHL for another year. But watch it be 2-3 years because why offer him 1 year when he’s over a barrel.

If the NHL returns to play, they're not rewarding the Stanley Cup until late September or Early October. That means the next season won't start until like January at the earliest.

There is speculation, that if Kaprizov has to wait until January to play hockey again, he may just re-sign with CSKA for one more year so he has a place to play in the fall.

Can’t we just do the loan thing with him too?
CSKA has publicly said that they wont allow him to leave mid season when the NHL starts back up

Russo Today: “Theoretically, he could sign with the Wild and be loaned to a European team so he could play until he needs to report to Wild training camp. But his current team, CSKA Moscow, has already made clear that if Kaprizov plays for them in 2020-21, he won’t be allowed to leave and come abroad in the middle of their season.”

That'd be awesome if he felt like living in Switzerland 6 months. Loan him to the NLA.

There's really zero incentive for Kaprizov to sign with the Wild now. The smart move on his part would be to play another year at home and then reevaluate what's going on at that point.

Isles fan here. Both our teams got the shaft with this ridiculous decision. Only difference is Sorokin is only eligible for a 1 year ELC. Let’s just hope the two sides compromise and they can at least sign now and have a year burn regardless of not being able to play. Not sure if this would help the situation with Kaprizov but for Sorokin it was never about physically playing, he has been waiting because he wants the year to burn right away so he gets to RFA

OK, so it's back to plan B. Lose to VAN in the play in series, lose in the 2nd draft lottery to a team ahead of us in the standings, pick 12th, and miss out on all of the top C's.
