Could he be ready for a coaching role on the Flyers bench in 16-17? Maybe specializing in an area of the game the team has struggled in since he left Philly...

Speaking of former Flyers (although in the following case having a much lesser Flyers pedigree) in similar role: former Flyers 1993 pick, who also reunited with the team for a brief stint in 07-08, Vinny Prospal will be asst. coach for the Czech team.

Love the "No Kimmo PK" statline, heh

The PK wasn't great every year during Kimmo's time as a Flyer, but it was never terrible. And that's what you really want to avoid - having a PK so terrible that it saps the confidence of the team.

I think getting it up to 5th in 12-13 when freaking Bryz was the goalie was an amazing accomplishment.

Unless I'm missing something, can someone please tell me why we so are accepting of Kimmo becoming an NHL coach right away when we criticize the hiring of Laperriere for the same thing? We said the exact same stuff about Lappy becoming a coach and look how that has worked out.

I was fine with Lappy getting a chance, but now that the PK has failed two years in a row he needs to go. If there's a great candidate with a history of special teams expertise then hire him to run the PK instead, and Kimmo can be an advisor. With all the young dmen coming thru he really would be a great addition.
