Was hoping for something more in the $4.5M ballpark, but this isn't bad.

Wonder what the people who were suggesting $3.75M feel.

One of the top pairing in the league as soon as he was paired with Niskanen. I think if they ever experiment with a left handed PP he'll be able to either top or get close to Carlson in numbers.

So solid deal from me, though we seem to be getting no deals so I wonder what's gonna happen with Kuzya.

Almost every post on the front board thinks he was a 3rd pairing guy all year.

Good deal, he's a #2 now who is knocking on the door to becoming a #1 and these are his prime years.

Now it's time to get Kuznetsov locked up long-term.

How many years of UFA did they buy?

I'm a big Orlov fan, 5 on 5 he's consistently one of their best players.

I think 1 RFA year, 5 UFA years.

edit: n/m it's 2 RFA and 4 UFA years.

I feel like some wing-needy team is going to try to take advantage of this higher AAV and try to snipe Bura with a high offer sheet that we can't afford now since they know we're going to have to pay huge for Kuz

Won't happen. Offer sheets are pretty much never happening on any team

I'm a lot more comfortable paying for what a player will do in their prime than paying a player for what they did in their prime.

Too much. Somewhere in the 4.0-4.5 range would have been good. Lets hope he continues to improve now that he has security.

I don't believe that there was ever the possibility of him going under $5 (though we all hoped for it) once Schmidt and Alzner left. Our LHD are pretty thin right now if you haven't noticed haha

Four years.

I don't think it's a steal given that he hasn't proven to be an all-situations player yet. He's pretty much a stud 5-on-5 but they need to work him into being an all-situation player now. They need to be more flexible in featuring him on PP2 and work on making him an effective and trusted PKer. Do that and it's fine.

Yeah, a little bit more than I was hoping for....but at 6 years...it should work out over the length of the deal.

Now get Kuznetsov done.
