I guess I see it as, none of our business. The player is injured and he'll most likely be back in X number of games. What the diagnosis is, I don't really see the point of knowing from a fan's perspective.

Just so we can demand that he be back at certain point and be mad when he's not like we're trained doctors.

We want to know what the injury is, specifically, so we know which specific excuses to make for the player when they return and aren't playing lights out.

Looks like he should be back on the ice by Wednesday. (No, not from the source, but is more of an educated guess based on personal knowledge)...

Chip with the breaking news that he "thinks" it's an ankle problem for Khudobin. Lol. Oh to be paid for wandering around aimlessly.

I apologize! From now on will only deliver solidly backed info. Not my own "observations". Khudobin will most likely hit the ice by Tuesday–Wednesday of next week.

This was a well timed 4 day break. Cam should be nice and fresh for the time it takes Khudobin to get ready, and then he should be about ready for a break when it's time for Khudobin to get back in the game.

Agreed. I'm glad there are a couple more like that mixed in this season too. The odd four-day break now and then seems to do a lot of good.

Yeah, I assumed Peters would get one of those starts, but I could see Ward getting both.

The Wild come after a long break so Ward should be fresh. And the Avs have played ridiculous hockey, so we'd want our best on the ice.

Though if it were my decision, I'd put Peters in net against the Avs. Given the way the Avs have been playing, and that it'll be the backend of a back-to-back, I'd consider it a throwaway game. If we win, good. If we don't, no big.

With Khudo being a real backup, there will be opportunity to rest Cam later.

Just say no to Peters.

I'd go Ward back to back.

4 day break
Minn. Game
Col. Game
2 day break
Pens Game
3 Day break

I realize it's a back to back, but that's only 3 game days in a 12 day stretch. He should be able to handle that without undo wear and tear on him.

Colorado is playing a bit over their heads right now.

That's how I'd handle it as well. Ward isn't exactly a stranger to this kind of schedule.

Khudobin will get on his skates Sunday. Hopefully Peters is kept busy opening the bench door until Anton is ready to get back into the lineup.

BB...imagine if the team, anyone on the team, thought like that? Colorado is a "throwaway" game? Lol.

I understand, but I tend to look at it like this:

Given the way the Avs are playing, they've got a good chance at beating this team, regardless of who we have in net. If there's a good chance the goaltender will get shelled, would you rather have it be your established starter or the goaltender with no future in this organization?

It's a back-to-back of Western teams with a divisional rival of equal strength to the Avs coming shortly after. If putting the Colorado game as a "throwaway" game helps the team be better prepared against the Penguins, I'd take that every day of the week.

And given this team's tendency to play the "Have Ward bail us out until we feel like playing" system when he's in net, it might be beneficial to have Peters in there, since they'll actually have to try from puck drop.

But again, as I've stated before, I'm a natural pessimist so my expectations for games and the way I approach them will obviously be different than Muller and the team.

This is professional sports. There are no "throwaway" games. Also, like I pointed out, the Avs aren't that good.

There are sacrifice bunts in baseball. Same principle. Sacrifice a game of lesser importance to help you win a more important game.

Hell, it's happened in this league. In the past, there have been instances where teams have lost very winnable games to earn a better matchup in the playoffs (facing Ottawa vs. facing Pittsburgh, iirc) or better draft picks (last year's Tampa vs. Florida game at the end of the year, for example).

Not to say they're going to lose game intentionally, but if the players know a loss will benefit the team or organization in the long run, the motivation to win may not be all there.

I think Carolina matches up real well with Colorado. I don't see any reason to view it as a likely loss. Of the 3, the Pitt game is the one I'd expect them to lose.
