Not true. That Finnish roster was way worse than a KHL one. They had almost only Liiga players and Liiga is like the 6th best league in the world.
Yes but best liiga player's + top players from SHL and NLA and some KHL guys+ couple players from NHL/AHL that Finland's roster would surely make play offs in KHL i would say they would be top 5 team in KHL this season or even top 3 if Jalonen coaches them. its not very accurate to say Liiga level player or KHL level player.. worst KHL players are Mestis leveled/ or atleast wouldn make liiga as imports. Half of Liga or even more than that would make some KHL team's roster if they would be with Russian or Kazak Belarus or so passport that would right them to play in KHL without import status.

Unfortunate. Could be a nice repeat of the first game of the summit series where no one gave Russia a chance either

Well instead of KHL vs NHL why not go back to the Super Series format from before. Where Russian teams played against NHL teams? The Soviet's lead that series with 55 wins to NHL's 33. It was held between 1976-1991. The Soviet teams were always club teams except in 83 when it was the national team. If the club teams aren't good enough what about KHL all stars vs NHL teams like how it was in 83 pretty much?

Yea, I’d say Jokerit is a good comparison for that Finland WC team.

Either way, very little separates a non-elite NHLer from an upper tier Euro; at least talent wise. Most players are interchangeable.

Quite often success or failure in a league/tournament is predicated on opportunity, utilization, style of play.
Las Vegas as a good example. A bunch of cast-offs nobody wanted were provided alternative opportunities in a different setting; as such, these nobodies made the Stanley Cup finals.
Now add a different sized rink into the mix and magnifies this tenfold.

An NHL team couldn't even beat a mid-table team from Switzerland. There's no doubt that KHL could beat the NHL on an an international sized rink.

You have a point. All this chest thumping is kinda pathetic, feels like I'm reading Lord of the Flies itt because of how much people are acting like those kids in that book.

Hockey is a very unpredictable game but also a very strategic one. Like in MMA they say styles make fights, well same thing here. The game could go either way depending on a whole bunch of factors. The above example is a good thing to bring up. Canada's loss to Germany is another example, although that wasn't Canada's A team. Point there though is Germany's G team would annihilate the living f*** out of Canada's A team in soccer, which is a much more predictable sport imo. Just listing a team with Crosby as the 4th line centre and bragging about how stacked the league you watch but don't even play in is a bit immature

As a reminder, since summer 2021 the KHL will be using only 60x28 (Finnish) or 60x26 (NHL) rink sizes. They are abandoning the big Olympic ice.
