I am very puzzled by this signing.

Maybe Pillar can defend better in a smaller park like Fenway but he wasn’t great fielder anymore in Toronto in his last year or so and I don’t think that changed in SF.

He’s a complete dummy at the plate and his speed and Defense is declining. Fine as a platoon for the OF through

he wasn't awful last year. 21 home runs and 93 OPS+ while playing a premier position in center field. still has some value
