This is what happened with McDonagh although he was one year younger. Rozsival got hurt. He went in. Never came out.

Not saying Klein would be the one to go but this could go a long way to gaining the coaching staff's trust

Same thing with Hags, called up the same day. Believe it was just after Thanksgiving.

2-3 weeks. Of course.

You're up D-Mac. It's your time to shine and convince AV to never let him sit you out again.

This...

Big Mac comes in and looks solid, now the coaching staff is forced to look at the remaining 3 guys.

Boyle has been producing points, and he's a puck mover.

Klein has been the best defenseman to start the year

Which leaves Girardi, who just had his worst game according to advanced statistics... (By the way, on the ice for 40 shot attempts??! :o)

There's some cleanup to do around here. Coaching staff better make the right choice.

McIlrath going in and out of the lineup with Boyle and giving Girardi 27+ minutes of icetime in last night's win must be an elaborate ruse to get Girardi out of the lineup. Deep thoughts.

I thought Hagelin was called up to inject some energy into the lineup, not for injury replacement. He and Mitchell were lighting up the AHL and were called up together.

Edit: Ah, it wasn't injury. It was suspension. Not that Andre Deveaux was going to end up with a permanent roster spot anyway..

Best suspension in Rangers history

I'm just saying... 3 weeks is about 10 games... It's completely possible that McIlrath starts getting some of Girardis minutes.

Don't be surprised if we see McD-McIlrath for a game... It would be stellar if those two could grow together.

I would probably think Boyle would be the guy to go if anyone. Doesn't make sense to move Girardi or Klein when both are signed beyond this year and play big minutes. Whether Boyle would waive his NMC to go somewhere else is the question. He may if he sits.

There's actually not a lot of reason to move Boyle, either, even if McIlrath firmly establishes himself on the roster. $4.5m is an expensive 7th D, but unless they're looking at a major upgrade somewhere, it's not too expensive for this team to keep in the press box.

Let's also not forget, Klein is now out. What happens if Girardi's apparent hand problem puts him out of the lineup? What if McIlrath gets hurt? There's just not a lot of pressing need to make a move at the moment.

Its more likely he doesn't. Its more likely McIlrath goes right back into a merry go round with Boyle when Klein returns.

Well, whatever happens when Klein comes back, him getting this playing time will most likely be a very positive thing for his development. Having him watch games from the press box was not a good thing.
