Choice between Hayes and or Hayes, Lemieux and the Jets 1st in 19

Choice between:

  1. Hayes[7X7]
  2. Lemieux+WPG’s 1st
  3. Hayes[7X7], Lemieux, WPG’s 1st

I’ll take option 2.

I like Hayes. Always have, even when many people were ****ing on him his 2nd year here.

But I don’t like the contract he’s going to get with the inevitable NTC sprinkled on top.

Hayes is not getting 7x7

He may get 7 per over 5, and I'd do that if I were the Rangers, with no No Movement Clauses

They would have just re-signed him if they wanted him. Same with Zuccarello.

I think Hayes gets 7x7.

Re-sign him and get nothing, or trade him, get assets, and possibly bring him back for free? I'll take option 2.

I think he ends up on the Islanders on a 4 year $4.5m AAV deal

You think a #2C gets paid $4.5M on the UFA market in 2019?

I could see Calgary grabbing him to play with Gaudreau (very good friends).

Leave Monahan with Lindholm. A lot more balance.

Great player. Can play center or wing. Has found himself on Winnipegs 4th line a bit in these playoffs. Good for 40 points.

5 years 5 million?
the fact he was on the 4th line for even a bit is why the jets lost. maurice is a bad coach. hayes is supremely good.

That's what I think he's worth, but you're right he'll most likely get 6 mil, if not more.

Contracts are gonna be ugly this offseason. Everybody's having a career year.

But yeah, with JVR making 7 x 7 last year, I don't see Hayes making any less than $5.5M per, and that's playing it safe. Probably more than $6M.

He had 55 points in 71 reg season games this season, not 40 points? He is easily going to get 6+.

JVR got 7 million a year for 5 years not 7. I do think Hayes gets around 6 million a year in his next deal maybe a bit more if it's a shorter term deal (like JVR's).

he will do us a favor and sign for 5 years, 6.2 per, generous ntc, but zero nmc.

He does this because he knows there will be mutual backscratch payback when he hangs up his skates. That's when he can play the good will card for letting us pimp him out, and taking a bit less. Coach somewhere? Scout? Consultant? We can do him some kinda solid somewhere.

We need to move a couple of vets and new guys to max mins for the remaining pivots, and repurpose those assets traded into areas of need.
