Remember when people said his game wouldn't age well and that's why Benning got so little for him? He'd be leading the Canucks in scoring right now.

His production over the last calendar year is among the top 6 or 7 centers in the NHL.

Still think he's overrated defensively, but he's probably even more underrated offensively.

In 2016 he finished with 72 points in 82 games, tying him for 5th in points among centers with Scheifele (who played less games). I knew he was good but I'm shocked he's that high.

Yeah same here. Somebody posted the top 10 on our board in the Stepan thread and I was like "is that Ryan Kesler??"

Because he's so disliked people don't realize how good he is. Anaheim brought back Kes.

Kesler line carrying the team most of the season. Gibson stole this one second half of the game. Kelser scored all the goals in a poor team showing. Kesler for captain! Bench perry!

Even though I'm still slightly pissed at Kes for the way he left here, I still miss the hell out of him.

Benning got robbed for him.

Sbisa, Bonino and a pick resulting in Jared McCann

If you follow the transaction chain to the end it goes:

To ANA: Kesler, Bieksa
To CHI: Forsling
To Pitt: Bonino, Clendening (from Forsling), 2nd round pick (from Bieksa)
To FLA: McCann, 2nd round pick, 4th round pick
To VAN: Sutter, Sbisa, Gudbranson, 3rd round pick, 5th round pick.

Go Benning.

He's the driving force on a line that's been our best and by far our most consistent this year. That whole line has been great through all 200 feet of ice. Lethal on the forecheck, strong offensively, and solid in their own end. And they show up to play every night, too. That's a lot more than I can say for the rest of this damned team.
