I´ve read that altough Ken Hodge scored alot, won the cup and played on the first line with Esposito and Cashman he wasn´t very popular among Bruins fans. Is this true and if so why didn´t the fans like him.

Thanx

Don Cherry described him as a player who would rather score a goal in a game his team lost than not score a goal in a game his team won.

One thing that really jumps out about his career is how erratic it was. Pretty much every season is a 20-40 point swing from the season before and after it, and he alternated 50-point seasons with 90-100 point seasons throughout his prime years. Usually the sort of thing that will frustrate the hell out of your home fans.

Phil Esposito once said Hodge was the kind of guy that as an opponent if you befriended him on the ice he didnt play as hard against you. This might be true. Hodge had some pretty great seasons though, not a lot of guys were top 5 in points 3 years and not in the Hall. He was a good playoff performer too.

Don't remember hearing any of that during the Big Bad Bruins era where he was one of the biggest and certainly fit in beautifully.
