I know Keith Yandle has an NMC, but at 32 years old, and with the Panthers not making the playoffs this year (unless Florida goes all in and acquires Panarin and Bobrovski), what would the Panthers accept to trade Yandle to the Habs?

If Yandle wants to stay with the Panthers but wouldn't mind seeing some post-season action, could a "loan" work out between the 2 clubs, where Yandle is traded to MTL and then traded back to FLA post-season?

Anyway, the reason I could see Yandle be a great fit with the Habs, since he would fill in the LHD spot nicely & is great in PPs (MTL is dead last in PP).

True, but the Habs are looking for a specific fit IMO, and Yandle is it.

You're crazy lol

No trading away a futur 2way #2C and a 1st for a 32 soon to be 33YO deman bud...

Heck I wouldn't even offer that for Fowler and Fowler is better than Yandle

How about we just continue with the path chosen? Why trade away our future for a D-man on the wrong side of the 30's???

I beg to differ. I think Yandle's better than Fowler, though I do think Fowler has more value because of the age difference.

I think he's easily worth a 1st + solid prospect. IMO he's a top-3 D, but on the opposite side of 30.

I think I would do 1st + Poehling like offered above.

How does this help FLA now/next season?
We need to add a RD to our top 4, a starting goalie and possible top 6 forward.
We're at the point where we want to trade future picks/prospects for proven players or sign big name free agents.

Why not just wait a year and chase Gardiner or other free agent offensive LD? Similar style player, younger, costs no assets other than straight cash homie. Do most MON fans think Bergy will be offering up this package this year?

And you also think trading away our future for an aging d-man is worth it.

I'd like to know what's really going on inside the brains of fans like you... Why the F*** would you consider doing this when we aren't even clsoe at being contenders? just... WHY???

Def not... ZERO chances MB goes away trading some young talents like Poehling for an aging d-man... ESPECIALLY when Habs are easily 2-3 season away form being contenders

And in 2-3 seasons, our current elite players (Price and Weber) will have regressed, and we'll be back to square one. Sure Kotka looks like the real deal (potential elite talent), but the Habs are contending now. They do have a chance. They're fighters and playing with lots of heart and very speedy. Best case scenario, play Isles first round, win. Then maybe Caps, send them back to second-round exit, win. Then a hopefully deflated Tampa/Toronto, win with speed. Then run West team in circles and win cup.

Price will be 32/33 in 2-3 years. Luongo was, and still, is an elite goalie in the late 30's, why would it be different for Price?

Webr will be what, 35 at the time? He's NEVER been a fast d-man, even when he was 23... That won't change, and he's still effective right now, why would it change in a matter of 2 years? He's not goign to be 39...

Habs are not contenders and won't be this year. Yandle isn't worth that much anyways. But please, take your homer glasses off and realize that this team right now is playing well, they may do a round or 2, but that's about it. Ain't NO WAY habs could win a Best-of-7 vs TB or TOR or PIT or WSH

Montreal needs to contend this year. They have a shot. They could pull a VGK. I don't mind offering Primeau (though I don't think he'll be ready to play next year) + Juulsen/Fleury (potential top-4 in very near future) + Suzuki (potential top-6 winger)? Granted they're all prospects (minus Juulsen who already looks very good), but they are pretty much what you'd be looking for in 1-2 years.

Don't forgot to be a good boy and wag your tail :sarcasm: Dream big! Never know. LA and ANA were 8th seeds no?

You're offering prospects though? We need proven players and need to contend starting next year. We probably don't need anymore forward prospects with Tippett and Heponiemi nearing NHL debuts.
Don't see us as good trading partners to be honest.

You could think all you want, I don't see any team winning a round against Montreal "AINEC"-style. Maybe you need to put your homer glasses on and realize that Montreal is legit this year. You can pull out stats, etc, but if there's one thing you must know is that the Habs this year aren't fluking their way to success.

Yandle would be a great fit, but hes a great fit in Florida already and I dont see any reason why they wouldnt ask a significanr price for him. The guy that said Poehling+1st is close to what hed cost. Likely a roster player too.

I think Poehling and a 1st is a reasonable cost for Yandle.

Montreal shouldnt pay it but I think it's a reasonable ask.

I don't see this trade being a fit, Montreal isn't win now mode enough to chase such a big, over 30 fish

Habs are good and really something to watch this year. They are definately a playoffs team. But like last year, they still are a top pairing lhd and a no.1 center away from being a contender. They probably got the center in Kotkaniemi but it will take 2-3 years before he can take that load efficiently. The lhd is still to get acquired via draft, trade or UFA signing. I don't think Mtl will ever get that piece via UFA because Mtl is not a praised destination. Via draft, it takes alot of time for a D to become a true top pairing D. I think it is a spot for a relatively experienced player (like 25 years old).

So that being said, i don't think Yandle is a fit. He is pretty good yeah and would love him on our pp but would'nt like the price to acquire him and for the limited amount of efficient years he would give us.

I think the Habs should target a really solid defensively lhd in the 23-27 yo bracket that can take a 20-22 minutes load every night. My ideal target is, and for a long time now, Brodin of the Wild. That would be the kind of player i would pay futures for without problem. He also would give the time for our younger (Mete, Juulsen, Brook, Romanov) to develop properly on the bottom 3 D spots.

Panthers can’t afford to trade from a position of weakness. So trading our #1 D makes no sense.

Mattheson, ekblad and gardiner wont do good on your turnovers.. you need a better RD in his own zone
