Without knowing the actual situation, I’d bet most buyouts or cap-reason-trades are maybe by the same GM that signed/traded for the player. Could be wrong about that of course, but it just feels like the GM turnover in the Oilers of 3-4 years is not the norm around the league.I feel like there should be a rule that states that you cannot trade a player for cap reasons if you are the same GM who signed said player. This is just absurd. Sign player -> whoopsie I made a mistake, lets use a bunch of picks to get rid of the guy I signed. So stupid.
