How is Rubstov coming along as a prospect? I've heard mixed reviews.
If Thats an EK extended they may ask for a bit more

I think you need to add a bit more than Rubstov, prob Frost or Morin or Lindblom

It’s dountful many teams can offer a piece like Ghost for Karlsson. He’s on a pretty good contract for 5 more years as well.

I’ve said on the Flyers board, but if they decide to go after a top defenseman, nobody can match what the Flyers have to offer between Ghost, Sanheim, Myers, 14, 19, and all their forward prospects.

That is true they are pretty stacked prospect wise. Do they want to do it tho?
Still feel they are on the right track and if one of their young goalies develop well than that would be the time to pull the trigger on an EK or EK type.
Timing is everything sometimes. Right now they are on the right track for sure and likely to add two more top prospects.

They’re in an interesting spot. I don’t see an issue in making a big move for an elite player now as long as they’ll be signed long term. They have a ton of cap room moving forward and only need to fill out 2-3 spots on their roster. They’ll be at the point soon where they don’t have enough room for all of the prospects because most of their core is locked up long term or under team control. Many believe Simmonds should be traded for futures as well.

Could be very truefully and best with new super swedish for Flyers since of Forsberg then Ghostisbehere a super star new American defenseman in trial for Sens.

Pretty good offer but if I'm Philly I stay the course on this one. I understand it's a big upgrade but you're going to be paying minimum 6 million more per year for Karlsson, and Ghost is a legit top pair guy. Gives you cap flexibility to upgrade forward depth

Now if you could find a way to get it done starting with Sanheim and some other pieces that's a whole other story

I’ve stated before I would include Sanheim in a deal for Karlsson.

    Sanheim
    1st rounder (2018)
    1st rounder (2019)
    2nd rounder in 2020

thats a pretty solid deal. Probably would have to bump up the prospect chain though dont think Rubstov is enough

Don't think that would be enough tbh I think the value difference between Ghost and Sanheim is more than a 1st and the OP deal is still slightly light on the return imo by like a 2nd

If you get four first round returns for Karlsson you take it. I don’t think you will. Teams will draw a line somewhere.

But what were we potentially looking at from Vegas with the holdup being Glass?

EK + Ryan (taking that contract has huge value in itself) for Thedore/Miller + Glass + 1st + 2nd? If that's truly what they're looking for idk if your package gets it done

Personally I don't think the Flyers touch trading Ghost for Karlsson. Ghost is already one of the best young offensive D men in the league. Karlsson is obviously the much better player but is he really going to be worth nearly 3x the cap hit?

Nope, Flyers have other holes to fill and other star player contracts to worry about

There’s a chance Sanheim is a better player than Ghost in a year or two. It might make more sense for the Flyers to move Ghost rather than Sanheim if Karlsson is the player coming back.

If that first sentence is true, you're running into money issues. Philly got an absolute steal with the Ghost contract and it's unlikely they can repeat that

Not at all a knock on EK but I’ll pass. Ghost at his salary with his level of play isn’t something we should be looking to move. I’d also be hesitant to trade Rubstov until we at least see how he does in LV next season. Yes he’s had a rough go of it but he is only 20. Hate to move him and then see him prosper elsewhere.

Cap space will not be an issue until 2022-2023 when Couturier is up. Their top 3 centers will likely be Couturier, Patrick, and Frost who won’t be making more than 11-12 million combined. Their starting goalie should be Carter Hart who will be on his ELC. Myers, Morin, Hagg will all be bridged/ELC’s. Sanheim will likely be bridged anyway because he won’t be putting up huge numbers with Provorov and Ghost/EK(if that deal went down).

LMAO, no, I wouldn't trade Ghost straight up for Karlsson. Is Karlsson on another level, of course. I'll take Ghost at 4.5 million and about 6 million in cap space over Karlsson at the likely 10+ million AAV he is going to get soon.

Honestly that's basically Ghost + a player like JVR/Simmonds level which I think I still take Karlsson over tbh. Add in the additional assets and eventual cap headache though? Definitely makes a difference. Philly's D is going to be disgusting in a couple years, just play the patience game that has finally paid off for Winnipeg
