The fundraising walk raised $50,000 for programs in Ottawa schools. :thumbu:

The charity is called "Can't Dim My Light."

Its aimed at anti-bullying in schools. Very nice thing for Karlsson and his wife to do :)

Does this initiative look like the work of someone desperate to get out of Ottawa?

Subban's very charitable and very honorable donation/funding of a hospital didnt have an effect on his trade.

Maybe not desperate, but this certainly doesnt tie him to the location. Lots of players set up charities in locations and contribute to them even after leaving. As someone mentioned - Subban is a great example.

And P.K. Subban donated millions to children’s hospitals in Montreal and continues to do so after moving on.

Subban back to Montreal. E5.
Please provide evidence that Subban wanted out of Montreal.

Everything I've come across suggest he wanted to stay and was traded against his wishes.

Not suggesting it will have any impact in a trade that EK has no power to prevent.

It has been an ongoing assumption by many on this board that EK wants to leave.

This development supports those posters who have been claiming all along that EK is tied to Ottawa and would prefer to stay.

Who said Karlsson is desperate to get out of Ottawa? Every one is saying he really wants to stay. By reported accounts Dorion is trying to trade him. Melnyk isn't negotiating.

It has been a very common refrain.

No it hasn't. How do you reconcile Dorion letting other teams negotiate with him with your theory that he is staying because a sale of the team is imminent?

It has been a common refrain and we have many posters convinced EK is just bidding his time until he signs in Tampa.

How did those negotiations with Karlsson and other team go?
Strange that nothing developed.
Also strange that the Sens have been accused of changing/scuttling the deal everytime it gets close. It's almost like the threat of trading EK is being used as a leverage point.

To be honest, I do not believe his Wife, always funny feeling from the start, I think Hoffman's GF is innocent. I think they just did not get along so she assumed it was her, and blabbed about it to all her Hockey Wife friends dragging Hoffman's GF through the mud.

The gross things people at HF was saying about Hoffman and his Finance without a shred off proof was gross.

Dont think it matters to be honest. Also dont think its in EKs best interest to request a trade anyways. He doesnt have to. Hes a pending UFA and without a contract extension in his last year. Either he gets his money from Ottawa, Ottawa trades him or they risk losing him for nothing.

Does it really matter if he wants to stay or if he wants to leave?

Yes it matters.

The Sens can still choose to trade him to 20 teams without his permission, but EK being unwilling to sign and wanting to leave has been the basis for many ridiculous lowball offers.
Save the chest-beating for when he signs an extension with you guys.
No chest thumping, just providing some further info on a popular topic of discussion.

He's not desperate to get out of Ottawa. He made a commitment to set up this charity and he's not going to shut it down just because he doesn't have an extension and Dorion tried to trade him.

Yup, this charity event is whats going to keep him in Ottawa.
Ya, because that is what is being suggested...

It speaks to his state of mind in a situation where he has limited control of the outcome.

The low ball offers are because hes a UFA next year and hasnt come to an agreement to extend. Consensus among gms may be that he just wants to get to UFA and make a decision then.
