Just wondering what Habs fans would give up to get Evander Kane?
As a hypothetical start to make the deal work financially
from Jets: Evander Kane 5.25 million cap hit (24 million left on deal)
for
from Habs: Travis Moen 1.85 mllion cap hit (3.7 million left on deal)
Rene Borque 3.33 million cap hit (5 million left on deal)

Must be a fairly big concession to take 3x the salary back on a deal but what else
would Habs need to add to make this deal happen?

I'm not sure I understand your question. What could the habs add to this magnificent package for the Jets to pull the trigger on Kane? I don't know, multiple first rounders? Galchenuyk? In any case, way too much for a deal to be interesting.

The Jets won't want guys like Moen and Bourque for Kane.

I suggest you don't ask this question on the main trading board.

First, you need to subtract everything back and start over again.

I think they will be looking for a centre and perhaps take a flyer on a goalie.

So you look down the habs centre position (or potential centres), and I think the one that they will immediately ask for is galchenyuk.

That is the piece that the habs and jets will have to work around. We gotta be real here, Moen and bourque aren't going to cut it at all, even if we are talking at the margins.

Kane was talked about in depth last season. Media would eat him up in Montreal and be major distraction to team.

Chances are to make this deal happen the would have to trade 4-5milion in cap hit, hence Borque and Moen....The question is now that the money isn't an obstacle what would Habs need to package with these two to make the deal work?
Tinordi or Beaulieu and a 1st? Personally I wouldn't trade Gally or Patch stright up let alone include in a package

I dunno. Moen is a leader on this team and Bork is a multiple almost 30 goal scorer and a playoff beast.

I'm getting soft in my old age, so I'll take that deal but you owe me one!

Looks like some fans have some reading comprehension issues, question wasn't Kane for Bourque and Moen...it was Kane and his 24 million 5.25 cap hit for a cap dump of 5.18 and 8 million in $. The question was what players, picks and prospects would you give up(add) to make this deal happen....

...

Why not Desharnais because he's better than Galchenyuk :naughty:

Seriously though Sirius said Moen + Bourque is the short-term salary swap, and "what else would Habs need to add to make this deal happen?" so take it easy on the new guy he never suggested it would be a straight up deal Kane for Moen + Bourque lol.

We have extra C but I would not deal Galchenyuk. We have extra young D but does Winnipeg want that? First round pick I'm fine with trading our window is opening.

Thanks for a bit of back up....lol, Love the suggestions that the Habs take on 5.25 million cap hit for picks and prospects and only have 2.8 in cap space....MB doesn't seem like a guy to operate up against ceiling....any deal made would almost certainly be close in cap $.
