Kane and Eichel's remarkable seasons.

Both players are currently on pace for 103 points, which would put them tied for 6th in the league.

While others will finish with higher points, what makes these two players seasons remarkable, is the lack of offensive support from their teammates.

Chicago's next 3 highest scoring players after Kane are projected to finish with 171 points (with Toews leading the way with 69 points).

Buffalo's next 3 highest scorers are projected to finish with 176 points (with Reinhart leading the way with 67 points).

These players aren't getting enough credit for the seasons they are having IMO.

They're having great season individually but both there teams are out of a playoff spot. That's probably why they aren't getting much credit.

Good point, though I would point out that their respective teams are not in the playoffs through no fault of theirs, so it shouldn't be held against them.

Loved Eichel taunting the Leaf fans after the PP goal. Imagine if it was Marchand there would be 2 threads on it and probably into the 30th page. Jack is a superstar in the making and Buffalo is lucky to have him.

was it Kane a few years ago who won the scoring race with like 89pts?

Super star players putting up super star numbers is good for the league. A few years ago 106pts would be lauded at. This year it’s just “fantastic”

He won with 106 points and second place had 89.

That 17 point gap was the biggest in a long while.

Benn with 87.

That was in the middle of a run from 2011-2018 where no more than one player per season hit 100.

Long while? 2 seasons from that Crosby won with the same 17 point gap as well

And considering Eichel's linemates have been a revolving door and included a lot of Zemgus Girgenson, that feat is supremely impressive.

On the plus side, I think VO has looked like a legit 1st line winger for eichel in his past 10-20 (healthy) games. But otherwise, ya- VO played like a rookie his first 20 games, that with reinhart was still the only scoring line, then VO gets hurt and it’s vesey/Erod/girgenson.. good lord. Like, Sam Reinhart, to me, is a perfect 2c (we don’t talk about that) and a bottom 50% 1st line winger. Besides that we’re lacking scoring, so it’s Eichel, a rookie playing phenomenally well, a meh 1st liner, some D scoring, and.. Eichel.

edit- don’t wanna be too negative, Skinner and Mojo are good parts, just haven’t had good seasons. I think the chemistry is just off, we need one more guy who can work with one of ‘em and it saves a scoring line from the boat anchors on the squad. Hoping next year swings the other way.

As to P. Kane- dude ages like fine wine, wouldn’t have seen it coming but his legacy has really grown. Went from.. what’s a comparison? Like, Lecavalier or somethin to just next level, dude has had a hell of a second half to his career.
