Kakko and the Rangers have already discussed this with team doctors and the medical experts and They decided that he can play. The decision now is up to Kakko.

[QUOTE="n8, post: 172476259, member: 5775"Additionally, my point above - does anyone know if the NHL players and staff are to quarantine within the NHL bubble? What if someone decides to order food delivery? Who is catering food otherwise? Where are they getting their food delivered from? Will they have relatives and family coming in and out? There are currently many unknown points of entries that could make this entire plan fool-hardy. I'm assuming the NHL is going to take every measure to insure nothing pierces their bubble but I think it's naive thinking because they are in an assumed to-be-confirmed bubble that the system has no holes....[/QUOTE]

This has all already been decided. They will have restaurants within the bubble including food trucks. Players can leave the bubble with approval from the league but must quarantine upon return and No family members allowed until the conference final. Believe me, they have done their due diligence. Edmonton is even putting up a “wall” around the bubble.

that is assuming the criteria hasn't changed now that the actual rules/guidelines are in place

The virus is very contagious, if 1 player or coach catches it, then soon they all catch it. they play without masks, they breath close to each other, and they breath hard because they are playing sports and they spit all over the ice, and they put their moth pieces in and out multiple times. You have to be crazy to think that a wall or bubble will save them.

some yahoo who doesn't think covid exists is gonna scale that "wall" (probably a fence) and get someone inside the bubble infected. It sounds like the restaurant and food trucks will be going in and out. They really should just pay to have catering and limit the possible points of infection entry. I'm not sure this will go well but I guess I'll be optimistic. "Players can leave the bubble" is essentially saying they cannot leave the bubble because "quarantine upon return" effectively removes you from play. And do they have dedicated facilities for said quarantining? That seems like a lot of ifs.

Covid exists...but there has been a lot of conflicting (and bad) information given. Testing has more than tripled from March so of course more positives are showing, but what people are overlooking is deaths are down and have been declining. If this many more people are exposed and that many less people are dying this is good news.
The conflicting information about masks actually being effective is a whole 'nother topic.

What kind of smoke and mirrors is this? Would be like saying if people stopped reporting domestic abuse there would be less cases of domestic abuse. The fact remains that the US is one of the worst countries in the world with regards to this pandemic. There are no conflicting messages about facemasks from medical people, they work, they aren't a guarantee you won't get it but if everyone wears them it will reduce cases.

What are you talking about? Hospitalizations and death continue to decrease. How is that not a good thing?

Again, like you said, people will continue to overlook it. This is probably going to stay circulating for a while, possibly forever, like the flu. What are you going to do next year around flu season? Lockdown again and never leave the house? If deaths were skyrocketing, I could see why people would be extremely fearful but is life never going to continue again? What exactly are some waiting for or want to wait for? A cure?

I'm a little up in the air about Kakko playing; not because of Covid, but I just think that he can use the offseason much better than most.

It isn't like we would be losing a valuable contributor; we may legitimately make the team better right now by pluggin PDG or Gauthier into Kakko's spot.

Let the kid work on his conditioning and skating now that he knows what the pace of the game is like.

I don't think it will happen, but that is what I would prefer.

His last game was March 12th, right? It'll be August 1st. He needs to sit and wait until January of next year to play? 10 months to work on conditioning and his skating? Hopefully, he's been working on all that with all the videos he's been putting out.

If he has been putting in normal offseason work, then sure, get him back into games.

I was under the impression that most players were having a difficult time getting ice time though? Much less with coaches.

Kakko was back home and had access to ice before almost anybody else on the team. Almost positive about that.

Correct. He practiced almost the day he got back. He was at a rink in Kaarina together with Georgiev and 2 former A-level teammates in Leevi Teissala and Aarne Intonen, in case anyone was wondering

Conditioning? The kid is 19. At that age you can get into shape overnight.

As far as contributing, i would think the break helped him. A rookie season coming right after the draft is a very long season. Not sure waiting any longer would be beneficial unless we’re talking safety from Covid.

Agreed on this. Kakko needs to be in the lineup and if he's been working his ass off during the past 4 months as we have to believe he has been, one would have to think he'll be in better shape than he was when the season shut down.

Kakko just being able to keep up with his linemates and not be gassed after 20-30 seconds pretty much every shift would be a positive and the Rangers are a more dangerous team!.

    Cases continue to rise..
We did things properly here and now we have 0 cases and our economy is wide open now with very few restrictions

He would clearly lose pace as games progressed last year. And this isn't just a 19-year old that could benefit from being able to walk up the stairs without having to catch his breath; he is trying to keep up with finely tuned athletes that have been preparing at this level for years.

I would certainly agree with last season being an exceptionally long one for him though. There's a good chance that he shows up in camp with marked improvement in his ability to impact games.

But I would very much prefer that we would not plug him back into the line up if he hasn't taken that step. We would just be making his long season stretch into two long seasons, and that doesn't feel like the best long term plan.

Where is "here" and what makes you think that Covid is gone forever? People will continue to travel the world...there is no way to say that any area that is in good shape Covid wise today will be free of it tomorrow.

he’s 19 not 91!! Walk up stairs and losing his breath? He’s not an athlete if that happens.

    Ummm, no shit?

I mean that a 19 year old can "get in shape" easily compared to normal people; not necessarily to athletes.

He's a big kid who had clear conditioning issues last season. We shouldn't just assume that they will be better because he had a couple months of development and training.

Please make up your mind then on our 19 year old. Coddling him like he’s wearing diapers or like he’s an old man doesn’t make sense. He’s a 19 year old athlete. Covid aside, he’s fine.
