Left winger van Riemdyk,healing a broken right index finger suffered on March 4, is still on target for the initially expected four-to-six week timetable for medical clearance.

Flyers’ James van Riemsdyk discusses season’s uncertainty and teammate who is ‘the straw that stirs the drink’

Van Riemsdyk, who has 19 goals this season, said that his finger is healing well and that he will have an X-ray next week and find out what he is cleared to do.

For now, he is not permitted to lift more than a pound and is doing “passive-motion stuff.”

JVR Staying Busy During NHL Pause

In the meantime, van Riemsdyk is trying his best to stay in shape for a potential return. Thus far, he is on target for the 4-to-6 week timeline for medical clearance after sustaining a broken right index finger. He will have a follow-up with his doctor next week.

"Things are on course, healing wise," he said. "I haven't touched a stick yet. I can't lift anything yet that weighs more than a pound. Just doing mostly passive [exercise]."​
