Germany
There is a U18 5 nation tournament going on Switzerland at the moment that has a pretty strong German team.
I am really looking forward to see these kids develop.

I also wonder how the rosters of the other teams (Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republic and Slovakia) are rated by their fans.

Just noting, such a high proportion of RBHRC guys on the German team. Top group has Taro, Justin, and Wirt. Then there's Lobach and Eddie Schitz, and Mnich is a goalie. Taro is really good, the most underrated guy in the German U18 system by far.

Switzerland seems to be taking this whole short=skill thing seriously as well.

My projected rosters, but many of these are guesses so please feel free to correct me on Denmark, Norway, or Latvia.

Denmark: I guess they should technically be the favorite, but for a Denmark team this really don't look as good as normal.
Rasmus Simonsen - Phillip Schultz - Sebastian Sorensen
Frederik Kaels - Gustav Green - Victor Cubars
Mikkel Bertelsen - Oliver Kjaer - William Nistrup Madsen
Emil Bredvig - Kristian Berlin - Lukas Bach Nielsen

Lasse Holm Mortensen - Christoffer Fraenell
Oscar Schulze - Marco Petersen
Max Vilstrup - Jonas Brondberg
Gustav Dichow - Jonas Krogsgaard

Frederik Dichow
Christian Elmose
Frederik Sogaard

Norway: This team is probably the size of most U16 teams. They may stand a chance against us or Latvia but probably not Denmark at this size.
Calle Spaberg Olsen - Kenneth Pappalardo Gudbrandsen - Lars Christian Rodne
Pontus Finstad - Christopher Van Doorn - Douglas Byrkjeland
Shafaat Hashim - Oscar Matheson - Sander Hermanstad
Sander Froberg - Alexander Thomas - Erik Beier Jensen
Tym Lokkeberg

Kristoffer Thomasen - Markus Mikkelsen
Mads Christian Hanneborg - Sondre Bolling Vaaler
Emil Martinsen Lilleberg - Frederik Pedersen
Hans Jakob Eckhoff

Tobias Normann
Tobias Johansen Breivold
Henrik Fayen Vestavik

Latvia: They beat "us", but without most of our top juniors, some of our top U17s, and the ones who were there were coming off a long tournament trip. This was basically their lineup but with a few HK Riga additions.
Deniss Fjodorovs - Ricards Grinbergs - Gustavs Millers
Artjoms Koppass - Rudolfs Polcs - Maksims Semjonovs
Antons Trastasenkovs - Roberts Prizevoits - Ricards Fomins
Antons Sinegubovs - Rihards Ligis - Patriks Marcinkevics

Ernests Osenieks - Nikita Mateiko
Brants Harijs - Karlis Reinis Stolcs
Gustvas Bergs - Patriks Ozols
Rihards Kuzis - Danila Larionovs

Marks Dvorkins
Arturs Silovs

Austria: I think the best lineup possible
Benjmain Baumgartner - Marco Rossi - Benjamin Lanzinger
Paul Huber - Fabian Hochegger - Tim Harnisch
Senna Peeters - Adem Kandemir - Maximilian Rebernig
Felix Muller - Armin Preiser - Leon Kleiss

David Maier - Julian Payr
Kilian Zundel - Thimo Nickl
Jacob Pfeffer - Philipp Wimmer
Dominik Rauter - Martin Urbanek

Marvin Kortin
Alexander Schmidt

Austria: The lineup Brucker loves
Benjamin Baumgartner - Marco Rossi - Benjamin Lanzinger
Leon Kleiss - Fabian Hochegger - Tim Harnisch
Paul Huber - Adem Kandemir - Armin Preiser
Felix Muller - Valentin Ploner - Marcel Judth

David Maier - Kilian Zundel
Julian Payr - Peter Sivec
Thimo Nickl - Lukas Piff
Jacob Pfeffer - Dominik Rauter

Marvin Kortin
Alexander Schmidt

That said I think we're the best team in the tournament, though I think we'll find a way to finish second.. I'd love to hear a differing opinion though, because I'm not strong at all in my convictions.

Impossible to call these these tournaments really, and pretty pointless to put too much stock in these anyhow, but I have to pick Denmark, if I take my homer glasses off. Are there any notable NA players missing in this tournament? On a random note, I see player named Cubars on the wrong team :D

Latvia might choose to have Artjoms Lapiks? Also I didn't include Viktors Jasunovs and Kristers Arnicans because they haven't been active within the program but I think you could make a strong case for both. Nils and Nauris Sejejs as well, obviously a more renowned program like Latvia might see shame in bringing kids from a U17 league but we have many times and it's usually worked out for the better.

For Denmark it's Oliver True and Mads Sogaard for sure. Norway...well the elephant in the room is Mathias Emilio Pettersson. He came last year, I don't see great reason for him not to come this year. However, he's a hard one to predict.

I think Denmark can beat us as well, maybe Latvia. Thing is, we're stuck in D1B, so for us this is the championship, which is why I'm writing about it so much. Our coaching staff loves players without hands or offensive instincts, so even though we're more talented than the opposition it's a steep upward climb. It's too easy to defend us. I think we win at least one for sure but it's hard to see us winning three.

4 forwards, 4 defensemen differed from the initial projection. Sander Hurrod and Jonathan Hamsfoe has come on, and Philip Granath is a bit of a young star.

Meanwhile, Latvia has an entire selection game, bringing in 38 skaters, to see who gets to go to the tournament in Liepaga.

The Hungarian Roster for upcoming U18 tournaments
U18: Februári kerethirdetés

So, Hungary knows if they just put their best U18 roster into a good tournament they'd get killed ;) so they always play smart and divide their roster into two so when they get killed they can say they didn't have all their guys. Anyways, they play two upcoming tournaments in Warsaw and Epinal. Here's the grand roster.

I'm never going to be unbiased about this of course, but perhaps some others may think there's some good talent in this roster.

U18 tournament in Slovakia (15 Feb - 17 Feb) featuring the host team, Switzerland, Belarus and Germany.

Rosters:

Belarus U18

Germany U18

Slovakia U18

Switzerland U18

I don't know about the other teams, but there are several players to watch on the German roster. I particularly like Moritz Seider, Alexander Dersch, Yannik Valenti, Manuel Alberg and Tim Fleischer.

Justin Schütz, Taro Jentzsch and Nino Kinder might also be worth a look.

Another player who was not initally listed but was added to the roster and is Tim Stützle. He is a very intriguing prospect.
