10/10 would claim off waivers or move pick or similar prospect for in Pittsburgh.

I think this kid needs a change of scenery and will be given one simply because he's a RHD who was picked 14th overall in 2014.

By default he's also better than Jack Johnson. So that's a plus.

He still has potential, good low risk pickup for someone. Seems like a MB type pickup tbh, he's cheap AF.

Julius Honka is way better what he seemed to be for Dallas Stars.
- one NHL team is going to get a solid offensive RD, who can play defense well enough.

He sucked when playing for Finland as well in the two World Championships he played . The longer the tournament went the less he played.

A guy who moves as swiftly as a dead horse just broke his foot.
Just a guess, but I'm going to say he was trying to trip a child in a road hockey game as he headed off the driveway and snapped his beady-eyed old man bones instead.

Wasn’t he supposed to be some offensive dynamo when he was drafted? Wonder what happened?

Can't make decisions fast enough for the NHL, constantly waits an extra .5 seconds which results in a broken play or turnover.

Can't defend at a high level, which means limited minutes and low trust from 3 NHL coaches.

When you don't play many minutes, don't play regularly, and get stapled to the press box after 3 separate coaches your confidence is low. Which results in poor play.

So, it's an entire mashup of events that caused him to be this way.

Sounds like a repeat of David Rundblad.

Honka will be 24 in a few months, not sure there are many teams eager to add him, even on waivers. Maybe a swap for an equally troubled prospect.

Rundblad is a great comparable.

If only we had traded Honka for a high pick earlier.

Interesting that the RFA stuff has even gridlocked something as minor as a potential Honka deal. Like...he's not going to cost much. Teams must be really worried about how tight they're going to end up with these pending RFA deals whenever they get them figured out.
