Cubs have traded away a lot of young talent in recent years in chase for championship

Infact they traded away 4 guys who hit 30 or more HR this season

Gleyber Torres to Yanks in Chapman deal
Daniel Vogelbach to Mariners in Mike Montgomery deal
Jorge Soler to Royals in Wade Davis deal
Eloy Jimenez to White Sox in Jose Quintana deal

2019
Soler = 48 HR's
Torres = 38 HR's
Jimenez = 31 HR's
Vogelbach = 30 HR's

Torres was steep price for Chapman but it paid off to get them title

Jimenez deal looks horrific for them right now and likely will get worse in coming years especially if Cease becomes the pitcher Sox and scouts believe he can be

Soler and Vogelbach are nothing players....probably both regress back to replacement level

They still gave up young talent in deal which is point I was making

Its actually surprising that Theo isn't getting flak while a certain former Red Sox GM was ripped by media for doing same "Move young talent to win now"

Both ended up with WS but only one was bashed in media for it

So maybe its not surprising as Theo has always had defenders to bury any negative story and find a scapegoat for when things go wrong

Not surprising when basically every player called up hit 10 or more homers.

Dan Vogelbach is the kind of guy you trade away to win a World Series.
If the ball is manufactured differently next year, he will be lucky to match this year's homer totals the rest of his career.
