Usually nothing, but sometimes it's something. :naughty:

What are the odds you're picking up the next Pavel Datsyuk in the 6th round? How many 6 round picks in the last ten drafts have played 100 games? I'd wager the odds are like 1-2% for a 6 rounder to play 100 games, maybe.

There have been some damn good players taken in the 6th in the last 10 drafts. Surprisingly.

2008 - Cam Atkinson, Jared Spurgeon
2009 - Anders Lee
2010 - Mark Stone
2011 - Josh Manson
2012 - Connor Brown
2014 - Kevin Labanc
2016 - Jesper Bratt

Too early to judge last 2 drafts.

Would have preferred a slightly higher pick but ah well it's better than nothing for a guy who wasn't going to be here.

Had hopes he could do more offensively as a depth winger but that never transpired. He had many chances too but was just a tweener ultimately.

I'm just glad they are starting to turn over the roster. I hope they get rid of all the UFAs for starters. It's time to move this thing along and get rid of the Hextall slowness. Get on with it!

Well that's the nature of the draft -- they're all just massive ping pong balls in a lottery when it comes down to it. But since value is roughly the same for a pick at face-value, a 6th is still a bit low for Weal since it's just spare change when you're looking for a buck or two.

Should've kept Weal and sent Patrick to the AHL to develop. Patrick's not ready for the NHL, he needs a good skating coach to start. Weal gives energy at least.

For sure but the percentages aren't very good that you're going to get back an NHL player. Not the worst thing to trade Weal by any means but statistically speaking they traded him for nothing (odds wise).

Ironically Weal probably would have been an ideal 4th line player for the Flyers but they refused to put him in that role for any period of time. Statistically he's good in the defensive zone, great in the neutral zone, just mediocre in the offensive zone.
