So it appears as if the most common opinion is that Weal was worth signing to see what he can do.

For the sake of this poll, assume that he plays all 82 games in a middle six role. Not on the top line, but also not scratched or playing on the 4th line.

So, how much does he score next year?

(And remember that you can see who voted for each option by clicking on the number in the poll)

40+ if he's in the top 6. I know people like to put Lindblom next to Giroux, but that's probably going to be Weal's spot.

I liked the Weal- Flip - Simmonds line. Put TK up top with G and Voracek. Put Oscar on third with Couts and Weise to see if chemistry is there they had with Schenn toward the end of the year. Ease in Patrick on 4th line with possible PP2 minutes. If Patrick starts killing it then move him up. I like 40 range if healthy.

30-40 points if he's on a top 9 line and 2nd PP unit.
25-30 ES points if he plays on a regular basis.

40 points would be pretty epic. If he managed that, I think we would all be chuffed.

Personally I think 30 points might be a stretch.

How do you all think Weal compares to players like Marchessault and Gagner?

I went 31-40 because I think he will see some good PP time, especially early in the season, and may play with G and Jake ... but I don't know a damned thing about numbers.

In 23 games, Weal had 8-4 12 (in 12:43 ES time)
16% shooting is probably not sustainable.
So normalize that to 4-4 8 at ES (1 PP goal, 0 PP assists)
Over 80 games that would be 14-14 28.
And his AHL history suggests he can score on a regular basis.

So I see him as a 25-30 point ES scorer.
To get above 30 points, he'd need to be a regular on the 2nd PP.

Comparables on the Flyers - ES scoring:
Read 6 yr average 70g 11-13 24
Weise 3 yr avearge 71g 9-12 21
Raffl 4 yr average: 47g 12-10 22
Lehtera 3yr average: 73g 9-18 27

30 points seems to be a reasonable goal. More would be unrealistic right now.
He still needs to prove he can score consistently over the course of a season.

If he's on the first PP unit and on Giroux's wing on even strength all year I'll guess 45. If not 27 points.
