Amazing game out of Drouin tonight. Now that is the player I thought we were getting.

Love Drouin and Domi together. Drouin has changed his game a bit and is allowing Domi to carry the puck and create plays. Drouin is getting into open ice and Domi is finding him.

Drouin is NOT a center, but Domi is. Now we just need to see it consistently from Drouin. He's getting better and better.

This is what we hope. I never was sold on that Serge-Drouin trade but this is done and my choice is to see the positive. Let's say this is the real Drouin we will have for the next 10 years. Think positive !!

He looked super pumped when he scored that goal. I'm hoping he starts to crave the goals and just has that fire every night.

He was really good tonight.

Not a game breaker, but really opportunistic and thats good for a top 6er.
I'd argue he was absolutely a game breaker. You can't really be much more of a game breaker than that. Forechcking, backchecking, blocking shots, hitting, drawing penalties. Scores the game winner plus an assist and started the play on the other goal. Only good things were happening when he and Domi were on the ice

Anyone still doubting Drouin?
Surely you can't be serious. He had a good game, that's great, it doesn't undo most of last season (where he started off pretty good and fell off a cliff) and most of this season in fact.

I want him to succeed, I guess I'm just jaded when it comes to tools-but-not-toolbox kinda attacking players who always seemed on the cusp but never made it in Montreal. The Kostitsyns, Galchenyuk, now maybe Drouin...

Agreed 100%. There is no sense devaluing and focusing on negatives with Drouin. It's not his fault he was traded for Sergachev. Drouin needs to build on confidence and having confidence from our fan base will help him not worry about looking behind his shoulders every mistakes he makes.

What the fanbase thinks matters little. He’s always had the 100% support of management and that’s helped him a long way.

That is BS. Players thrive on confidence and having confidence from our fan base goes a long way. Players can try to ignore the negative energy from the fans but they know it's there. There are only a few elite level players that have ability to ignore this and not let it affect their game. Come on man, it's Montreal where you are either hero or zero.

We can't judge players during a tanking season, especially Drouin who was put to play in a position he never played in NHL.
Like TooLegitToQuit said, here in Montreal it's always hero or zero.
Let's not forget that Drouin is one of the few upper class players in NHL who actually wanted to play in Montreal. Let's give this dude a little respect.
My opinion? He's far above Kostitsyns and Galchenyuk and he will prove it in years to come.

I'm not going to say gamebreaker. I don't think he's quite there plus it's also a semantics thing. Mrb1p had a good criterion for gamebreaker. Guys like Ovechkin or Matthews who can score at will. My criteria might not be as strict but I still wouldn't call Drouin a gamebreaker. He seems like he could be on the cusp of that. He's playing fantastic hockey. I didn't see last games OT but I still think the good has outweighed the bad for this season so far. Plus he's been trending upward the whole time. He's been getting better and better (maybe with the odd step back here and there).

I like what I'm seeing. Nothing wrong with being a bit patient before we ordain him as anything truly spectaclar. But he's definitely looking more like the kid I desperately wanted to draft somehow. If he can be that player then we have ourselves a solid young core. It's not the Laffs' but it's a good start.

Still didn't see him take the puck and will it in the net, thats a game breaker to me.

I do think Drouin has game breaking skills but I don't think he broke the game open for us last night. He did have a very good game and worked with this team to accomplish this.

It's nice to see him gain confidence cause that is clearly the problem. I notice he is trying less dangles and that is key. He needs to feed off his line-mates more and time his dangles better.

I don't think he will ever be a force along the boards. It's just not his game. However, with 5/5 and making plays in transition, he can be a game breaker at times. If anybody on our roster has game breaking talent, it's Drouin. The question is how often can he do this for us? At the moment, he needs to keep it simple and the rest will come over time. Maturity is required.

Where does the score at will come from?
He played like a gamebreaker yesterday he was involved in all the goals and he was everywhere.

If Drouin can continue that would be amazing. I know he has many "haters" but what more can you expect from him? Even amazing dominant player like Ovechkin or Matthews can have a stinker.

you give Matthews a fraction of too much space and time, he scores. Full stop. No ifs or buts. He scores.

I don't know if Ovi's still the same player he was in his younger career but I remember like in his 2nd or 3rd year Washington would need that goal and he'd give it to him. They're just forces of nature.

Now Drouin is looking really good. he's flying out there. He's everywhere. It's amazing to see. A gamebreaker is a guy when the game's on the line he can pull something out of his arse with as much regularity as the dynamics of a hockey game (not a basketball game) can allow. Where he can force his will on a game whenever he raises his play.

People are more then welcome to call Drouin a gamebreaker. I wouldn't. Can he be? Possibly. Lets see how much better he can still be and how consistent he can be. His skating is wonderful to watch. Love his hustle of late. His ES play has drasctically improved and has definitely helped in assuaging my 'PP specialist' fears of him. He's looking more like a star but still has more to prove imo.

I think the 'haters' are definitely less than fair which is...fair when you think about it but conversely his fans might be a tad premature at this point.
