With his play this season, if has a Hab putting up the quality he’s put up this year, most would be calling him a waste of a high draft pick.

His best level of play he’sthis season has been as a serviceable NHLer. Thst it. More often than not, he’s been quite poor this year.
yea but many people make a 1 and not even watch him play for the love of god

I still wont discount him being a #1 in the future, but if he was playing for us like he’s been playing for them for the majority of this current season, we’d be calling him Bustachev from frustration.

on the this years AHL defensive core/habs i would take anytime a #1 D vs and mid level winger
in the short and longterm
and sergachev would be habs number 1 by far
Sergachev has been pretty bad this season. He played insulated 5 vs 5 last season with alot off PP time. He has looked brutal against tougher matchups. I have always questioned his hockey IQ. I suspect a game of chess between Sergachev and Drouin would quickly devolve into a game of checkers. To claim that he would easily be our #1 is laughable.

Drouin is actually quite smart.

Domi is smart, Drouin is creative... The prob with Drouin is his softness and and low % plays at time, he will try the tough plays instead of taking the smartest decisions in some situation, also his defensive game is certainly in question at times too but I must admit that its getting better as well as his work ethic, wont ever be the most consistent and overall effective player but lately he gives more than he costs us thats for sure... I still would trade him for Nylander in an heatbeat though since he is more north south, faster, stronger and smarter than Drouin...

His hockey IQ? He’s a 20 year old 6’3 mobile defenseman in his sophomore season on a team that can be easily argued as the best in the league. Last year he put up 40 points and, even if sheltered, still had FIVE GWGs! This year is different with the addition of Mcdonagh, an established 1st pairing defenseman, that we traded before fully developed. Sergachev is fine and is on track for the same damn thing. Let’s hope Drouin doesn’t shit the bed like Gomez... my money is on Sergachev and the Lightning.

I love how this board has wanted speed and skill up front forever but with Drouin all people complain about is that he’s not responsible defensively and isn’t tough lol

I complain about how he tries to go all by himself offensively. He has the talent to be a 90 point player, but his IQ is holding him back.

What? He’s a pass first player if anything. Or if you’re talking about his zone entries, he’s easily our best at it.

People just love to complain about him.

I dont know which Jonathan Drouin you are watching, but he makes so many damn mistakes and tries to be fancy too much.

Of course people can complain about him, last year was embarrassing and he's been on and off so far this year.

He’s been pretty damn good for the past couple of weeks and appears to be figuring himself out as an NHL player on the verge of breaking out.

Fort me drouin is better than galchenyuk. A year younger and a lot more spectacular.

The fact that drouin has less slack than galchenyuk on this forum is because he is french...

Can we please stop with the identity politics? Why don't you try the political forums if you wish to pursue this line of thinking.
