I'm glad it's only a 1 year contract. It's still early, but hopefully he can at least bring some routine in the playoffs later on.

Anybody to elaborate on this article? My understanding is that some Finnish authority declared the Liiga´s clubs gentlemen agreement as illegal. That agreement was arranged against the interests of Jokerit, so Liiga clubs can not trade players mid-season to/from Jokerit, they can not play pre-season games against Jokerit. Two Liiga clubs were even sanctioned by Liiga for breaching that agreement. Now, it is up to every Liiga club to decide if that club wants & how to co-operate with Jokerit. And Jokerit says that many calls from Liiga clubs came after the decision.

They have been good lately. If Kalnins can maintain his current level during the playoffs they might have a shot, as SKA and CSKA look very winnable.
