They might work it out over time but at this point my conclusion is - they can't score. 8 goals in last 6 games. That's horrendously awful.

It's been pretty awful, but last game against SKA was pretty OK. Powerplay needs improvement.

Manninen has been almost invisible. Still one sport in the roster for 1-way deal. Jokerit is also looking at the situations of Vesalainen and Tolvanen. Not counting on those, but still looking anyway.

There is an option for Vesalainen to play in Europe. AHL not in consideration from what I know... Ska still has the rights.

At the Jets board there was a article linked where he says his focus in on North America now, not Europe. That would indicate AHL is an option. Off topic, but I don't think either player should try to skip AHL. Koivu and Granlund benefited from it, you can learn the tricks trades of the small rink better there. If you adapt quickly, you won't spend much time there.

Good opener for Jokerit considering that the pre season was a bit tough. Powerplay still no workin, but 6 goals in 5 on 5 play is good.

I'm affraid of a similar roller coast ride that we had on first season with Jalonen. Bad game after a good game and good game after a bad one and so on...

The fact that Vesalainen didn't insist on full (or any) Performance Bonus for the first season of his ELC strongly suggests that he's expecting to play it (and burn it) mostly in AHL in which case he can't hit the bonuses in any case.

If he was looking to play in Europe for 18-19, let his ELC Slide and play his first season under the ELC in 19-20, he certainly would wanted the bonuses for the first year too in that case.

Oh boy Manninen has been on fire for the start of the season!

I was wondering how Jokerit has fixed Tolvanen's absence.

Also Kalnins - Zapolski tandem is good as they can split the duties now more care-free.

Ridiculous whistle by the linesman in the OT.

But it was pretty obvious since the game was played at St. Peterburgh. Not a first time the refs do this sheit...

Lol, it was as obvious too many men, as it could be.
That's true. It's also true that those refs would never call that penalty for SKA. That was against the spirit of the game because the first time refs see this was on OT and against pressured home team who just needed some rest.

That same thing happend for both teams many times during the game and the refs didn't care. If you are man with straight spine you can admit atleast this.

You know it how? Didn't Jokerit score 2 PP goals?

Jokerit did make PPG on both of their PP's. Jokerit got their last PP on the start of the second period. After that there was PP only for SKA. Even though they were dominated by Jokerit pretty much the enitre game. And I know it by watching the game.

Jokerit are currently running on solid shooting% (all situations included) 14.2% :D . This will come down, last regular season team were running on half of that, about 8%. Usually the shooting% topping team in khl has been around 8-11% after each full regular season. This is quite universal, in nhl usually nobody ends up above 11%.
Sog currently 169, making it 28/gp which is league mid table. However in few games Jokerit were quickly leading over 2 causing 3rd periods shots heavily on favorite of opponent. Also very small sample 6games it's hard not to draw conclusions too much.
Also worth mentioning I dont think any team has had easier schedule so far than Jokerit, only 1 past opponent (ska) on positive side of playoff line. But in general while it is early, there are good signs and new additions have added some overall skating power to the team it seems + all lines are capable of scoring.

Sadly Mike Lundin is going to miss out the whole season due to past concussion related injuries. After missing out most of last season as well, his career might be done at this point.

Jokerit CEO Jukka Kohonen had a D.Trump kind of a meltdown yesterday, in front of the media. He basicly blames media for all the problems. Sasha Huttunen writes about it in iltalehti.

Jokerit has started the season very well and monday they had a biggest victory (by goal difference) in their KHL history, when they beat Tractor Cheljabinsk 8-0. On the otherside, in that same game they had the smallest attendance in their KHL history. Little bit over 7000 in arena that can take 13500 people inside. So when media tried to ask about it, Kohonen started to blame the media.

- Kohonen tells that before the season there were 14 article about Jokerit and all of them were negative. Specially the article in Helsingin Sanomat about Jokerit and Hartwall arena ownership.
- Kohonen tells that if the product would be sausage and it been described as producted by Putins minions, then the sausage would stay in the store and nobody would buy it.
- Kohonen also tells that this season they don't have Eeli Tolvanen kind of a star to bring people in.
- They also decided to cut the amount of free tickets to the games.
- Then Kohonen goes on and says that even in NHL nobody care about attendance figures and were the money comes for the teams.
- Kohonen also tries to bash the other team in Helsinki and ask why nobody writes about IFK:s attendance in CHL. But in that case he got the visiting team wrong and the attendance figure.

Even Jokerit fans in jatkoaika.com are amazed about Kohonen behavior and some people speculate that the Helsingin Sanomat story about Jokerit and its ownership was too much to the russian minority owners. Specially, because that article had a picture in the front page of the paper and it basicly had Putins face inside Jokerit logo.

It is obvious there is anti-Jokerit, anti-KHL, anti-Russian campaign in Finnish press. It is clear from Hutunen´s interview for the Russian press.

And then you are suprised by a behaviour of fans? Really?

First of all, there isn't. Because there are strict journalistic guidelines in Finnish media, they have to report facts and that is all they've done. They do the exact same thing with Liiga, there is no sugar coating of problems at all. Iltalehti already have a pro-KHL/-Jokerit fluffer in Pekka Jalonen, one of the worst hockey journalists in Finnish hockey (of all time). This is an individual that in the 90's and early 00's could not write a single positive article about Jokerit, especially after the incident with Raimo Summanen. Then suddenly complete turnaround when Jokerit moved to KHL.

I don't think you understood the fan reaction correctly. They're not taking Kohonen's reaction positively at all. Several of them saying that if he can't handle this kind of pressure and treat the media, he should leave.

You are now talking about this interview for second time. Can you give us a link to that interview, so we can judge for ourselfs, what was said and how.

It is not obvious, not even likely. In Finland the press is like referees in KHL games. If you give them the possibility to whistle, then you can only blame yourself, if there is a whistle. Liiga gets lot of crap from the press also and finnish football, that is the laughing stock of all serious sports in Finland. KHL and Jokerit have gotten away relativly easy these years and the pressure could have been much harder, without (for finnish point of view) looking biased. As I have been saying many times, it propably is a cultural thing. Something that might seems to you as anti-something campaign, might seem to a finn as business as usual. There is a finnish saying "ei auta itku markkinoilla" and it translate something like "there is no place for crying in the marketplace". So if one gets bad press in Finland, then they propably have to take a look in the mirror.
