I really liked TapDog's and Kent Nilsson's D and G groups. Those are the best defensive teams IMO. Also liked McLlama's goalies too and Yarice's defense.

On offense, it is harder to choose. Flyersdad, McLlama, 42 jerks were probably my favourites. OB5 and landy92mack29 not far behind.

Most balanced team I give to uncleben and McLlama. There, I think that covers everyone! But that's really how I see it.

Overall, I like McLlama's team the best / hate him the most for taking my guys with MOST of his picks. Either way, guess it is hard to judge for another 5 years but always a fun way to pass the time.

Thanks again everyone.

Thank you @m0pe for putting this together and this was fun. Everybody had a lot of different ideas on how to build their teams and I look forward to looking back at this in a couple of years and seeing what plays out.

Shoutout to @landy92mack29 for the emotional support. @Tapdog for take the two highest goalies and then trading them away. Love the pivot. Cheers everyone!

Wow—great job everyone.
@m0pe this was a terrific idea.

I found myself thinking about comps—not so much for players as for forward lines. This happened after my first four picks or so.

The S&MV 1st line is modeled on St. Louis's top line: a goal-scoring RW, one of the top 2 two-way centers in the draft, and a skilled complementary winger.

My 2nd line is a poor man's (ok very poor) version of the Bruins top line: Peterka has been the dominant scorer in one league and really good internationally, not unlike Pasta; Niederbach gets praise for his 200-ft game in every scouting report I have seen; Berard is special ("plus shot . . . plus skating, plus skill level" according to HockeyProspect.com) and plays with an edge.

Once I was able to snag Hirvonen, later than I thought he would be available, I recalled reading one observer who compared him to a smaller less dynamic Aho. As a Canes fan I started thinking about modeling the Canes top line. In Magnusson I found a player who HockeyProspect noted was good in all situations "including the point on one of the power play units and looked astute in penalty kill work as well." To this all purpose duo I was able to add a big forward who McKeen's praised for "good skating and strong around-the-net presence."

The fourth line consists of one of the very best skaters in the draft (Groshev), a defensive specialist who excels against top international competition (Gut), and a biggish center with an all-around game. (Sundsvik).

All this because this was drafting a roster. Thanks again
