I REALLY, want to see Kapanen - Tavares - Nylander. Lets JT playmake more and gives him a lot of speed on his wing.

Did you just play the Clarkson card ? That's low. Very very low.

I think the shoulder separation has been bad for his game and Matthews perimeter play is a method of protecting it.

Matthews has to learn not to be injured in the NHL. On the Trouba hit he skated out front of the net like it was pond shinny: head down, eyes just on the puck, no protection.

Well put. So glad we didn't sign Stamkos the year before. Nothing against him, great player too, but alot of injuries, and really... JT is the better player.

JT is a lot like Mats Sundin in some ways. Like he can be a goal scorer if you want him to, or he can be a very good playmaker. He can do both.

No doubt. His current totals are tilted slightly in favour of goals, but it's been the opposite for very close to all of his career otherwise. The league's biggest point leaders are generally going to have more assists than goals, and the league leader in assists will have more of those than the Rocket winner will have goals. I fully expect that Tavares will continue to be productive no matter the situation/linemates.

LOL, good god no. I was being sarcastic to the guy who was saying JT is not clutch. JT has been everything I hoped he would be and more.

I've gained a real appreciation for Tavares and the contract he took to come here after getting a glimpse of this gongshow we're going through now with the Nylander/Matthews/Marner contracts.

At least we know one guy on our team valued playing here more than getting paid.

Let’s not forget the incredible $5.5 million contract he signed coming off ELC with the Islanders for the greater good of that team.

Tavares is the ultimate team player.

Marner needs a sinper. I think Travars is a strong fit.

#1 in 5v5 points, #1 in 5v5 goals, and #2 in 5v5 primary points. if the PP wasn't so ****ty and utilized him properly, he'd be seen as one of the best players in the league

Weren't bitter islander's fans telling us Tavares is sub-par at ES and needs ample PP time/usage to produce elite totals? I remember one specific guy under the pseudonym of a comic book character trying to tell me how much Tavares' 5v5 production in the second-half of last year plummeted and how he'll need ample PP time to make his contract look even somewhat respectable.

yes, but to be honest I can see where they were coming from. he did have a pretty mediocre year at 5v5 last season. Fortunately, he seems rejuvenated to be playing for his boyhood team and is an elite superstar talent again

Makes the most ideal lines imo

    Hyman - Matthews - Marner
    Kapanen - Tavares - Nylander
    Marleau - Kadri - Johnsson
    Brown - Lindholm - Ennis

While I also want to see how Nylander would look with Tavares, the problem with that is we are using Tavares as the current match up center. Obviously, the coaching staff does not want Nylander on the match up line.

If they shift that responsibility to Matthews or Kadri, I think you'll then see them try Nylander with Tavares at some point. I think it would be great for WN.

Tavares is our MVP this season. It’s just nuts how good he is.

Should easily hit 45 goals this season and still has a chance to win the Rocker if he goes on a tear to end the season.

You know what you're getting from him almost every night. Marner too.

Nylander and Matthews show up when they want to.

I always thought Matthews would end up with the C and maybe he still will, but for me JT is our captain right now. What a player. It’s amazing that we have 2 franchise centres now when not too long ago we were struggling to find even a 2nd line caliber centre.
