Posey has never dominated like Mauer did. Great numbers but peak Mauer no questionTo me, Posey is a better player. But I would still elect Mauer.

Mauer will likely be a crossroads of sorts for the Hall Of Fame voting committee. He played more games at 1B than catcher, but it seems the days of just strictly playing catcher for 120+ games are gone.
Sure, Yaider Molina is a hall of famer according to some people but Mauer isn't? Whatever you say, mostly dumb Cardinals fans.
Agreed. 2000 hits is not a HoFer.from 06-10 he was just ridiculous, but then had just a few good seasons afterward. I don't think i'd say he's HOF worthy. hall of very good for sure
Agreed. 2000 hits is not a HoFer.
Knowledgeable fans.Who cares about how many hits he has?
His wRC+ from 2014-2018 (when he was primarily a first baseman) was 103, which is barely replacement level.
I'm not sure if he's a HoFer. I'll have to dive into the stats more.
Posey's peak year wasn't as good as Mauer's, but Posey's peak in general has been just as good, if not better than Mauer's.Posey has never dominated like Mauer did. Great numbers but peak Mauer no question
I mean no, not really. Buster has had a good career though.Posey's peak year wasn't as good as Mauer's, but Posey's peak in general has been just as good, if not better than Mauer's.
You're right. Buster's has actually been better.I mean no, not really. Buster has had a good career though.

A wRC+ of 103 is nothing to write home about as a first baseman, but the stat is scaled so that 100 is average. Thus, 103 is 3% above average, which is very comfortably above replacement level.
Agreed. 2000 hits is not a HoFer.
