TSN Radio Joe Bowen thinks the Leafs will win the cup this season

He’s cohosting Leafs Lunch with Andi today, said he believes the Leafs will win the cup this year

For all the people then claiming he’s just biased and probably says they’ll win all the time: He then followed up his statement by saying he has NEVER predicted the Leafs are gonna win the cup before in any other year.

Big statement from him if so, seems like he really feels like this is the year.

that's true. he's never done that, (he's done a lot of articles stating the obvious)
He also state that he thinks it will be hard for them, if you look at some of the teams and he wonders if the physicality will hamper them, but there are a lot of other factors.

tonnes of NHL players (not just the Toronto-born ones) feel the same way too, like Malkin and Kane etc.

We have the offence and goaltending of a contender, many would argue we lack the defence of a contender but we let in fewer goals than Tampa did and were the only team with TWO 50+ point defenders, that has to count for something. The Capitals/Golden Knights didn't make it to the final with all world D cores.

Overall the Toronto Maple Leafs are a Stanley Cup contender. We currently have as much a chance of winning it all as any other contender does. We are no longer in the dark days where we are mentioning scrubs from those miserable days like another thread on this board. We are at the beginning stages of our window being open and anything is possible so BELEAF.

In the NHL playoffs all you need is a ticket to the dance & anyone can be crowned..this isn't the boring predictable NBA.

I really want Joe Bowen to be right, for obvious reasons and maybe if he starts predicting stanley cups we can get him on a Leafs game tv broadcast

How much cash did he put on it? The Leafs are contenders on paper. It takes a really good team, good work ethic and good luck! The best team on paper doesn't always win,obviously! Vegas has the Leafs as the favorite!

Well, Joe is getting old. The Leafs CAN win the cup, but it takes a lot of luck as well. How long did it take favourites like the Caps to win it. Even without major injuries to key players, you're going to need to be lucky. There are a lot of good teams thinking they can win it this year.

Nearly everything is aligned to make it happen. We do have the potential to ice the best team we ever have (depending on Liljegren, Grundstrom and the depth)

Strongest C, W and potentially the D if everything falls the right way
