With all those changes in the coaching staff I won't settle for less than the return of the Black Aces.

Would have been preferable but there are a lot of NHL teams that don't have an AHL GM.

If your AHL GM is going to be Larry Chuckles Carrière, an empty chair is a better choice.

Another thing too with the farm team being in Montreal it allows management to have easy access to how things are progressing in Laval so a formal GM isn't required. That said the Habs would be wise to hire a young/up incoming hockey executive to be GM in Laval like what the Leafs did with Dubas. There's no harm in it and could be quite beneficial.

I very much like the idea of adding one or two assistant GMs, like the Leafs have done. However, it would be preferable to name someone who can actually be groomed into a future GM. Clearly, someone like Larry Carrière was never going to be that.

Music from that thing was stolen from an elevator and mixed in a porn film studio.

"This is the room where Lefebvre hid after games. This over here is the room where he threw darts on the wall, to come up with his lineups -- you can still see holes in the drywall.

To the left now, this is the room Larry Carrière would visit but we'd always find him sleeping on one of the massage tables.

At the end of this corridor, this is the attitood room -- players who really care, are always on the bikes and throwing F-Bombs within earshot of our assistant coaches, now that's showing you care."

If that horrendous video is an indication of Molson's re-commital to quality, we're all doomed. Laughably incompetent and lacking any vestige of creativity.

I did like the casting of Bergevin as the stiffened zombie though. He blew the shot where he looked at the camera though. Amateur.

They've actually managed to insult elevator music @Runner77.

Completely fulfilled my expectations. New era, my ass.

Honestly, this is prefab stuff a la Quik, the stuff that I use for my travel videos. And I'm lousy at it.

If Bouchard puts his best playmaker on the 3rd line and waits more then half the season to figure out he should be with his best snipers, he'll get bashed and deservedly so. If he takes one of his most skilled players and removes him from the PP and drops him to the 3rd line while having one of the worst PP's in the league, he'll get bashed and deservedly so. If he lets prospects sit in the press box for far too long while playing crappy no talent AHL grinders who have no future with the Habs, he'll be bashed and deservedly so.

No one gets a free pass, I don't care what anyone's name is, who they are. I am just a big fan of our AHL team and want to see them make good decisions with our prospects and hopefully win games as well but that's not overly important to me. I want to watch a team that you can see making progress, improving, not running around in their own end like a tire fire but not improving over time. A roster that makes sense, and a coach that when he talks hockey it actually sounds like he knows what the f*** he's talking about.

Your analyses and summaries have been of great value in the past several years here. It is because of you that I know that Lefebvre was a bad coach, if it were just the media I would not be and in fact could not be sure. For example, it is from your posts that I learned that Kyle Hagel and Zack Startini got a lot of power play time in the first year, and that Scherbak has been tried at a bunch of different positions.

Thanks. It's crazy how much heat I took from a few posters every year but just as crazy that MB didn't see any issues with what was happening down there since they continued to repeat their mistakes. I don't mind mistakes, they happen to everyone but it's repeating them over and over that drive me nuts. I'm excited for the season to start as I so look forward to watching a Laval team that hopefully is just a much better coached team.

My theory is that we went through a lot of trauma during the Houle, Gainey, and Gauthier years. As such, we wanted to believe in Bergevin, he was hired by a new CEO and in a wide search. Anybody who was critical of the new administration in any way back then was met with skepticism. People wanted to believe.

I get how 6 years of Lefebvre are going to put us on edge at the first signs of perceived mishandling by the new head coach.

However, it's equally as important IMHO to give Bouchard rope, esp. at the beginning of this tenure. One of the things I'll be asking myself is when he benches someone or demotes someone who happens to be a top player or better player than whoever he's favoring at a given time, is what leverage is he trying to exert.

Other than asking for someone to be released or sent to the ECHL, what other options does he have when say a player is not providing enough effort or won't take meaningful steps to begin to avoid recurring tendencies that lead to the same failed result. Or what if they're having off ice issues that they are doing nothing about and that Bouchard is aware of? It's these kinds of situations that we're not privy to, but that impact a player's performance and progression that will often determine how a skilled player may not get the type of ice time he should normally get.

Now, if we had a substantive track record where Bouchard is consistently benching skilled players, then yeah, call him on it. I'm merely suggesting that as far as I'm concerned, that time will not be next season. After having gone through the Lefebvre years, I'm going to be extremely forgiving and appreciative of a coach who has manifestly a far different approach to development than Lefebvre ever had and who has earned a reputation moving up the ranks and being trusted at the highest levels.

Plus, it'll be a different supporting cast that will be implementing Bouchard's vision, he's not inheriting Lefebvre's hangers-on. It's refreshing and bodes well over the next 3 years of his contract. I want to give this man the full benefit of the doubt. Attending games in Laval this year, should be a whole different experience.

Are you ****ing serious? For real?

I dont think it's far fetched. He seems to lack confidence offensively and nothing about habs management is helping any of it. I think he does have the tools. His problem is psychological. He kinda reminds me of Eller.

He's the kind of guy, imo, who'd fit right in and perform in a place like vegas.

I'm not sure where this article is best suited, but its a good look at the management failings of Bergevin for Laval:

An age-based look at how NHL teams use their AHL affiliates

Its a good look at how Montreal has failed to use its farm team to develop young talent and how they haven't put their young talent there in the best position to develop.

Bouchard seems like a good start, but just like with coaching changes at the NHL level, Montreal needs a shift in management, development and analysis philosophy in hockey-ops to really see a turnaround.

They need to stop rushing 19/20 year olds to the NHL. Let them learn under Bouchard, enough with the yo-yoing.

Are they doing that though? Mete couldn't play in the AHL, was probably too good for the OHL and filled a hole that Montreal desperately needed filling. Juulsen was called up due to injuries. Scherbak only got 3 games in the NHL before this season.

The only guys they really screwed around with early were DLR and McCarron. That was a mistake, but not one they've repeated a ton lately.

They need to run the farm team(s) better in terms of NHL depth AND development, but the yo-yoing isn't that terrible.

It's worth noting those two guys filled boxes that the others didn't: they had size and could play bottom six roles which are things our organization have coveted a lot and given plenty of auditions in the MB regime. That being said, I stand with montreal that it was foolish to yo-yo them like that.
