Canucks cap management is fine.
Right now, they are roughly 2 million over the cap with 26 roster players. Demoting 2 fringe players gets them under the cap. Plus they can move Roussel to LTIR if they need cap relief
For next season, they currently have $17M in cap with 16 players signed. Notable free agents are Tanev, Stecher, Markstrom and Virtanen. It's a bit tight, but manageable
Pettersson and Hughes have 2 more years left until RFA. At that time, Edler, Sutter, Pearson & Baertchi come off the books, freeing up $17M in cap space.
When Boeser's contract is up, Luongo's $3M cap recapture penalty and Eriksson $6M hit come off the books.
Based on those numbers, there's enough room to pay the top players and should leave enough to fill the roster with players on ELC's or depth players making < $2M.
By that logic we only got three players on the team when Boeser's contract is up - so you are right no cap issues.
Truly remarkable that we are not in a position to take advantage of good teams running into cap trouble. That is a much bigger issue than trying to keep the current team together - because why would you want that?
Right now we are just #"%"%# away the "cheap" years on EP, Horvat and Boeser - possibly also Hughes.

13. Teams trying to move bodies include Carolina and Vancouver. Both are tight to the cap and roster limits. The Canucks have made four or five players available, but I’m not sure Jake Virtanen is one of them. Head coach Travis Green was frustrated with Nikolay Goldobin last season, but GM Jim Benning opted for a longer view. Could be the same here. Calgary may have to manoeuvre something once Matthew Tkachuk is signed.
Jets have tons of cap space but seem to have problems locking up their stars for example.I see a lot of people including analysts say we will be able lock up our stars no problem.
